Yep. The dealer was looking for a 3500 w Aisin reg cab and couldn't find one... This cc is rated for 17, 160 lbs. I'll never see that. So I settled for this. If it breaks I'm getting a Ford

I noticed its a short bed as well, I know the goose neck trailer will work just fine, but do you think you'll miss the long bed?

I think I'll miss the long bed regular cab. I dont have enough friends to put in the back. But the resale is better and it's a tad longer wheelbase

Kinda defeats the purpose. I did use this technique on the second txfr case failure. Heard the initial gear grinding and accelerated a tad to take the load off. Worked for a few miles until a big downhill.

Yep. Owners manual says 500 miles before towing.

That 500, I believe, is more for the rear gear than anything else. Either way, tow hard and often after 500mi. The cummins will love it.

Yes. No towing the first 500 miles and moderate speeds the first 500 miles of towing. All for gear breakin.

Mine will have about 4K on it before the first tow, so I’m not too worried about the speed restriction at this point. But my first tow will also be in the mountains.

That would be my choice for break-in. I used to chuckle when someone would ask how long are you gonna break it in(dirt track engines), our answer, "about 50 feet". I think my truck made it to 1500 miles before towing. Only a short haul(less than 100 miles) as are most of my towing. No 5 'er yet, and when I do, I may go up to the 3500.

Oh you girls.......worrying about break in. My trucks come home and meet the 500 gallon water tank and 13% grade. Break in is rather short at my house........and no failures! These trucks aren’t creampuffs.

Big trucks don’t get broke in. They run hard from the day they’ve been upfitted. Mack driveline failure rate is near or at zero on a new unit.

It was 3 TCs, still 3 to much.

It was 3 TCs, still 3 to much.

In reality it was two failures, caused by the linkage being misadjusted. The third tcase was due to a silly dealer installing a shop floor "cob-job" in the guys truck under the guise of "helping him out".
