Crazy Towing Combos

Appliance Repair

VW Farfrompuken maybe

Near world record pace, old ALT out by 10AM and new warranty reman in and AC compressor in by 11:30ish. Ron your idea of pulling the engine back that was a great idea. Still snug but wow what a difference. The gerbil is in the recovery room, resting. New tensioner and serp belt arrive this afternoon.

This view is from DS looking up and in, alt is hiding above AC comp, it's a bit shy doesn't like its pic taken. Came with a test chart but i asked them to test again, no need to do this one over. What am I saying! This was last august for install. Yes, I've already been in contact w/vendor tech line earlier this week.

And if anyone ever works on these with the snug fit sliding sleeve nut that they use on ALT and AC, take a moment and use a bolt maybe and pull the sliding sleeve back a little saves several bandaids and then they pull back into place with tightening.

The old unit was charging but the clutch pulley was to borrow a phrase Charlie Foxtrot. It rotated to drive correctly but when you reveres rotate on bench it was raspy turning and then would LOCK UP that's the failure mode and it makes big UGLY noises.

Friends, there's nothing more valuable in this world than family and friends. One of my exhaust fans failed Friday and one of my friends jumped on it. What a great life to be so blessed!

Here he is making final electrical connections. We do this for each other and frankly for a perfect stranger. Charity and goodwill are powerful forces! Thanks all, Ron

Ron,

Good to have buddies when ladders and scaffolding are not a great idea for the healing process.

That's a shop and then some, wow.

My VW project wouldn't even take up any room in there. And it's on the road again here's a pic and I circled what you can see from same view after all the stuffs been put back. I circled the new alternator in yellow so you can find it.

Ron did you assemble the building in the picture?

Big, I designed it and local small business built it for me. It's 60' x 60' insulated and with three remote control rollup doors and three manual rollup doors. I designed it to store up to 42' 5er and to be able to stand up on top of the RV. The back has a BBQ area with a 20' x 20' lean to for sitting under. We spend most of our time in it.

VERY VERY NICE!!!

The reason I ask is my Son is looking at something similar and asked me if I could build it? I think that I could have at one time but with all my NON-OEM parts a fall could be disastrous.

Thanks! I got a great deal on the building and my BIL and I wired the electric. I have 3 ea 1600 gal water tanks on the North side catching water for the lawn. I found a great CAD program free on-line and designed the dimensions, doors, and windows. The contractor designed the structure and sized the steel. With all the exhaust fans running, two Perma-Cool water coolers, two 42" barrel fans, and three 24" oscillating fans keep the shop fairly comfortable even in 100' weather.

This was before the solar electric was installed:

And I hear ya on the falling concern. I have solar electric and solar hot water heater that require me to get on the roof and on top of 9' bathroom inside. Dec 27, 2017 I was working on the solar hot water heater electronics and had the ladder collapse as I was stepping off, falling onto the ladder and concrete floor. Got a concussion and darned near broke my hip. Took 8 months to get over the concussion.

Let us know how it goes with your son's shop. I'm happy to share any of my experiences and knowledge if needed.

Cheers, Ron

Ron,

That is way way cool, man cave plus plus plus WOW!

Not sure I'd ever leave that setup.

Gary

You're right Brother. We plan on staying in this house for the rest of our lives. The house used to be 1400 sq ft before the renovation, expansion and new construction project. I designed it ADA compliant, which has paid off with the surgeries and time down. The only steps in the entire complex is to the sun room and the rear deck.

Friends,
Just thought I would provide an update: Dr said I'm healing slower than expected so gave me 8 to 12 more weeks on crutches. Instead of no weight on it, he has me putting 50Lbs on it first week or so, then as tolerated, add 20 to 25 lbs per each week or so. It's working pretty good, except crutches tend to wear you out pretty quick. Anyway, I have my sweet wife caring for me as well as these little helpers:

This is young Cleo's inaugural ride in the truck with an old veteran rider, Sheba:

Fortunately for me, it's my left ankle healing, so I can drive.

Howdy Friends,

I'm much better... get around the house with just a brace on my left ankle, and farther distances with a cane. Just trying to figure out what the new baseline for pain is. And looks like I'm going to have a pretty good limp. Thank God I have it to limp on.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread we Lost our blonde Lab Bella a year ago, and about 5 months ago, got a black Lab puppy Cleo. Our 11 year old black Lab Shepard, Sheba has taken really well to her. I was outside today and saw Sheba visiting her old pal Bella and caught a picture. Isn't amazing and touching pets have such strong feelings.

Got a little choked up.

EDIT: It was post #66 of this thread where I first took a picture of Sheba visiting Bella's grave.

Anyway, thanks for all the well wishing ans support. It has been a long road to recovery.

Cheers, Ron

Losing a Dog is losing a part of the family. I do not know about others but I take it very hard and mope around a lot. Roxy the GS is now 6 and I am 65 and wonder which one of us will go first. If it is her I will be a pile of s**t again. Roxy is my daughters dog as I did not want another one when the last died as I get to emotional. She got married to a guy in the USAF in Minot and I was asked if I would keep Roxy for a while until they found a place where they could have a dog. That was 5 years ago so we know who's dog she is.

Friends,
Had my 7 month check up today and it was a good report. Told me NORMAL (for me) activities as tolerated and I'll start PT after Thanksgiving. Here is a pic of my hardware:
