Back in the day, my 2001 24-Valve did 450 HP and 970 lb/ft tq to the ground on Dave Dunbar's Dyno. Pretty much unable to run it on the street at that power level in anything other than perfect weather conditions and in a strait line. As any of us that have had even mildly modded diesels over the years can attest, those things are downright wicked in there power delivery. I highly doubt that these new trucks will come with absolutely no form of torque management. Maybe it will be less obtrusive and referred to by another name, but something almost has to be in place.

No Torque Management is fake news. It is now called Drive Train Projection! Even my 2001.5 std cab with 325/650, was squirrely in the rain. A manufacture can not hand the keys to such a vehicle to the average Joe Blow without facing trouble down the road. Are they going to put a Hellcat emblem on the side.

While nobody has suggested going to 3.07 gears lately, the engineer's info here is interesting regarding tall rear gears.

With 4.10s and Aisin's low first gear they will blow by 1800 RPMs almost as quickly as they would with the truck in neutral.

Yes sir, and you can also ease up to 1800 RPMS. I have 4.88s and can keep below my max TQ of 1600 RPMs, ease up to and ease past it. You've been around a while too and I imagine you can handle it too. The 8K or 9 Klbs might help keep it under control on a dually with the extra traction from the training wheels.

I may never know what it's like to drive one, so I'll have to go by what the new owners say.

Enough said?

Perhaps. Just going off another video where a Ram engineer stated full torque was available in all gears. This video reiterated that statement. That said, my assumption could still be correct, i.e. the trans still has torque management, but only applies it as I speculated.

Vivian and I went to get our 21.2KLb Mobile Suites out of the shop today... Getting on the interstate with all of 20ft of acceleration lane with my truck WITH torque management made me smile how quick I got up to 65MPH.
The only way i could be happier with my truck is to be twins. And it's a lowly 4th Gen with derated motor. OK, i have to be honest I'm adding 60HP/120Lb ft TQ.

Man, TQ Mgt or not, if I got a 2019 Pickup with 400HP/1000TQ, I might get big headed on the TDR.

Anyway, I'm AM a happy camper.

Cheers, Ron

Webster defines ignorance as a lack of knowledge or information. We are all ignorant of various things. You lead me to believe you are are ignorant of the definition of the word among other things. Otherwise you wouldn’t take offense to a simple statement of fact. That’s assuming you actually didn’t know it was the same trans. If you did know and made that statement anyway there’s a name for those who who do such things.

Did anyone of you notice in video with only load of 14k at top of grade the MPG was about 3.5MPG. Heaven help those trucks when pulling a true 35k.

The trailer alone was 16,000 lbs.......... Plus the 9000-10,000 lb weight of the truck...... Would put gross weight at just over 25,000 lbs. Your avg fuel mileage would be less as you combine uphill with downhill. ??????

Yeh, they're flooring them. Have to watch again to see where tachs are. I think the worst fuel mileage on any of my trips was ~6.5 mpg.

I might pop back in with an edit when I watch again.

and it is what.....like 8 miles of a steep grade? Mileage is going to suck no matter what.
It is, but these guys are effectively RACING to the top to see which achieves highest speed and quickest time. I know they want to do simple comparisons to quantify capabilities, so I just enjoy the SHOW.

With the neat layout of the Ram AND my Edge CST2, i can see avg MPG, temps on coolant, oil, transmission, EGT, etc. In my wild(ER) days, speed up hill mattered...now, slow lane, 2400 RPM (Max HP on my C&C), and an easy climb.

What I think is interesting, there will still be folks trying to get more hosses out of that motor than 400. And still deleting. No problem though, it's a free country and everyone can get what they want.

Still want to see a three way eval of new duallies.

Cheers, Ron
