Tom,
My salesman spent around an hour with us setting everything up and orienting us. Ask them to do this for you. He paired our phones and went through all settings before leaving. Outstanding sales support.

It really helps with all the technology on these trucks.

Cheers, Ron
Yes, he went through a bunch of stuff, and helped pair my phone etc. Doing OK on the phone call front. The texting thing just came up, though. I don't "know" something until I actually do it. It's how I learn, unfortunately. My guy would definitely go through it again, but I always try to figure stuff out when it's off hours.

Copy,

Manual is out in truck. Got to phone settings and texts. Should give you options. let me know if that works for you. My wife has a 2019 1500 with the 12inch display. I was using text feature last week.

I’m too paranoid to activate the mic in my ‘14, so when these texts come over, I get prompted to do that. So I’m sure that if you do activate the voice recognition/ commands, it’ll all straighten itself out.

Going back to #93, Tom, you stated you can only answer with pre made messages. Could this be a setting on the phone itself? Like turning on/off suggested spelling when you type on the phone?

Tom,

Wife and I are out in the 2019 1500 today, so when we get back to the house I'll drill down the menu and find it. Then I'll post it to ya'll.

What's the royal knights of the TDR for if you can't help a brother out?

Cheers, Ron

I screwed around with a Sync 3 in a Ford that supposedly dealt with texts and I couldn’t get it to work....
Got everything else to happen but not that. I gave up..ran out of time..played Pandora through it and deemed it close enough for now....:D

I assume that Ram now has Apple Car Play. Tried it on the Sync 3 and it kinda’ took over everything. Turned it off and let it feed through the USB and Bluetooth like I do with our GM pick ups, I liked that better.
Again I assume that no matter what brand these Gee Whiz radios run on the same basic platform..

The Ford would NOT display outside temperature when the Car Play was active...drove me nuts...

This has Android Auto. I haven't even attempted that. I'd like to learn the basic system before venturing off into the weeds.

Just think, I ordered my '15 in Tradesman trim with the 3.0 base radio specifically to avoid this stuff. Now, look at me.

Honestly, if my Laramie 5500 hadn't been sitting on the lot a year, would have gotten an SLT. Still, I do like the vented seats. Not'n like sitt'n in HIGH COTTON.:D

Tom, I do not want to give you a stomach ache or thoughts of suicide but have you checked on what the cost of registration is going to be since Az. goes by value.

Tom,

Other than "Do not disturb" setting on truck, I think it's a setting on your phone message app.

This is how mine is configured and I receive texts with option to read or hear from truck.

Didnt sit in truck testing how to turn off.... this is how mine is configured to work.

Let us know if it works.

Cheers, Ron

Here's a doozy. They called me Monday to say parts are in and to set up an appt for my non-functioning tailgate damper. Dropped truck off this AM, and they called a bit ago to say they might have to replace the whole tailgate. Apparently, the damper is built into the gate. I can't find any illustrated parts lists on line to verify. I would guess it has to be a rotary damper, not a strut, if that's true. Why would it not be a replaceable cartridge? How asinine is that?! I know their body guy, and he's good, but in my book there is nothing like factory paint, not to mention it has factory sprayed bedliner, too. You just can't make this stuff up, folks.

UPDATE:
Pleased and confused. After I posted above, they called to say they confirmed it with FCA, come get it and we'll order the parts. I show up, and the SM says, "Watch this", and the gate slowly lowers. The damper is a gas strut behind the right taillight, and it was missing on my truck. Where this info suddenly appeared from, and where the strut they installed came from I have no clue. Somebody was blowing smoke, but the conclusion was good.

Now there is a different truck missing the damper at that dealer!!!!
