so just passing along a possible first issue with the new CGI blocks. A guy on another board has oil coming from a threaded boss with 6k on the ticker. Should be interesting to see if it’s a fluke or common. Location is behind the starter by the dipstick tube. Mine is dry as a bone.

Easy fix I would think, a short bolt with a rubber/copper washer as a gasket. I only have 2K on my truck, but I'll inspect it.

If you do the quick fix..... And then oil routes itself to escape somewhere else...... Do you void your manufacturer warranty?

Always let the dealer do it when you have bumper to bumper warranty and it might be a manufacturer defect

Thats probably what the dealer will do, once they investigate the fix vrs the cost to replace block, if thats all it is. Of coarse the dealer will get mine with the 5 year 100 mile warranty on the engine.

This morning climb into area to check on mite, is dry no signs of leaks on that side of engine above and forward of the starter.

I think those random tapped holes are for moving the engine through the production line. Could be a wrong length bolt was used or a wrong width block of wood/composite/rubber that the bolt held on????

Might have been weakened when in production. I wouldn't chance it

I think it is for the bracket that holds the optional muffler bearings, which are required if one is going to only use their truck as a grocery gett'r.

You might be right about the muffler bearings, but they are not an option on the tradesman. Must be an option on the laramie limited?
