Check to see if there are any re-flashes available for your truck. They are a very durable trans, but refined they are not. I am done chasing it. It is what it is.
Interesting. My first impression of the 68rfe on our 2018 was it seemed old school compared to 8sp ZF in the 2015 eco diesel it replaced.Well said, I feel the same way. I spent a fair amount of time in the saddle this weekend and can tell you I miss the 68rfe. The Chrysler trans shifts so much better than the Aisin.
Run towhaul in town will to be in a higher gear in town, and you will not have a lugging feeling. It just seems clumsy, it seems to lug the Cummins in town, locking out 6th gear makes a huge difference.
Towing it seems more comfortable, and that is what it will do 80% of the time. I am getting used to it, and as long as its reliable it can do its thing. From what I've read it is so all good!

I used to tow 62mph with my 68rfe with 3.42's in 6th combined 29k. I found I it gave slightly better mileage by leaving it in 5th. Interestingly the same RPM as my current DRW with 4.10's in 6th.
I was getting about the same mileage in 5th gear with a 16K 5th and the 8K TT at 60 MPH. This fall I started towing the TT at 66 MPH in 6th and mileage improved.
You tow that fast in CA?
I'm finding 64 is a safe zone on i5, Redding to Sac.
