I’ll see if the dealer can get any. I’ve looked at every website possible and that part number doesn’t come up. what would be a good replacement for the fronts? I tow heavy all the time

Have you tried ordering a Bilstein for a non airbag truck and seeing if they work? Take one off your truck and take measurements extended and collapsed. A lot of shock manufacturers have that information available.

Just a suggestion.

Ok just got off the phone with the dealership and that part #68188465AE that is on the sticker of my rear OE shocks comes up in their system but looks like they don’t make it anymore bc it is a good Chrysler part number but shows no price and no inventory anywhere. He looked up my VIN and part #6823649AD came up for my truck. Sounds like they discontinued the originals and replaced with these. Price is $215 each

Bilstein 4600 yellow and powder blue or 5100 black and silver. Pick your color as they both work for stock ride height. 5100 is for up to 2” lift or stock ride height.

Just ordered some Bilstein 4600s and gonna order some new OE shocks. Have 125k on the odo so it’s time for some new ones

Ordered all 4 (OE rear, Bilstein fronts) should be here in a week or 2 and will give feedback

would you mind posting pics of these special rear shocks? personally, I would have gotten the measurements and found a Bilstien or other premium shock.

Yea I thought about that but there’s gotta be a reason why no one has dug into this or no one makes specific aftermarket shocks so I went OE.

Four or five years and no one has done measurements yet! Some vendor makes these stocks for RAM.
Only place I’ve talked to who can get you the correct aftermarket shocks for auto level suspension is Thuren but they quoted me $2500 for custom King shocks

Yep, it's hard to say if it's too small of a niche to bother with, but you'd think the company shock company(ies) who make the OEM don't offer on the side. It's no likely a physical size issue, so must be special valving. I've had after market air assist on two trucks and never noticed any unusual reaction with stock, Bilstien or Rancho shocks. I'm more curious than anything to learn the special valving.

I agree. It can’t be anything too different but I have heard the air systems are very sensitive so I didn’t want to be the guinea pig on trying different shocks as I use my truck for work so didn’t want to deal with any possible issues. Hopefully someone on hear will try something different though.

Absolutely agree. And the stock shocks seem to have performed well... last three Ram trucks stock lasted... the 19 came with Bilsteins. $125 each for a low production specialty item isn't all that bad.

Not sure when rear air ride assist first offered, but imagine there should start to be more demand to replace rear shocks, so maybe some adventurous folks might do some field research and post on the TDR.

Cheers and Merry Christmas.

there’s another thread On here about this exact thing someone emailed KYB and apparently they are working on one for us. Supposed to be ready my summer 2020. Hopefully it’ll be a big improvement otherwise we might at well stick to the stockers

Must be personal because my rears work fine at 70k

Ron,
I agree, I believe personal taste ways in on a lot of areas here. Just like I believe many wouldn't care for the ride on my 17 5500, but its fine for my wife and me. We grew up driving trucks that ride like trucks, so the 5500 is fine, loaded and solo. Since its duty cycle is ~98% towing, I never air down tires. I even asked my wife if she wanted air ride all the way around (Kelderman) and could have had it installed for around $15K, but she said no.

Anyhoo, nothing wrong with folks who do... that's why we have options. Be interesting to see if when Ram offers air suspension on C&Cs.

Cheers, Ron
