Tire Load Range Ratings

All you can do is ask. Give them a call. They’re nice folks. Have them go down the option list with you. There’s a few that don’t cost much that I find worthwhile. Example being the 3 button control. Power up,power down, and gravity down. On multiple short hauls the gravity down saves over 100 amps out of the battery each cycle.

I almost didn't call, who in there right mind talks to a dealer 2100 miles away? I figured when I told them where I lived, they would be like...ok, another tire kicker. Not so at all, the salesman was interested immediately and had all the time I needed.

This DE model trailer is a brand new model and comes standard with the posted build sheet. The option list is really small. I did add primer (only offered in Texas) Kinda weird, two batteries and the 3 button remote (thanks for the tip jh). They sent me a quote already, I am thinking....

Direct ship or pickup from the Texas factory is no problem at all. I did forget to ask about a GVW de-rate, I need to stay at or under 17,200 lbs to fit my 8800 gvw pickup and 26,000k GCW.

I did get a quote from Diamond C but no go. In all fairness most of the build was an option for them.

Okay, before you guys rag on me for being a trailerholic….I have my Load Trail for sale:D

I’m glad you had a good experience. Fayette is a good outfit. Every trailer manufacturer has it’s positives and negatives. Overall I’ve been happy with my PJ.

Was following a PJ trailer yesterday. Never would have taken notice but for this thread.....Might need to look at them myself for a bumper pull dump.

I agree but it makes my head hurt. It is so hard to do your homework and not be able to see the trailer in person. Like you said, overall, I think the new DE model is a fine trailer and maybe better than most. Some manufactures only use one cam lock on the tailgate:eek:

A couple things bug me however. The bottom hoist mount is lacking in my opinion, very similar to my junky Lamar. I can't get a good enough picture to see for sure on the DE model with the square tube torsion axles. They might double right there and the bottom channel rail might be welded to it. If not, then it is just hanging in the wind. Not sure if that would burn the rubber inside. The top looks great.

It also appears the stake pockets are partially under the top rail and wont let a 2x4 fit. My Big Tex was the same way, I had to special cut the 2x4, grrrr.

jh, is your bottom mount and stake pockets the same? If so, any issues?

Jhenderson I've been trying to contact you not sure how to do it through this site not very good with it but in the past I put something out there about the integrated brake system now poorly it works you have described your problems are being exactly the same as mine. I was wondering how you made out if you were able to get a fix.

My trailer is built exactly as the one pictured. The square tubing that the lower portion of the hoist mounts to is part of the trailers frame. It’s actually about 2 feet from the axle. While it does look suspect I’ve had no problems with it over 8 years of dumping 12,000lbs at a shot. I’m sure it could be boxed if you desire. The stake pockets look just like mine also. The rolled edge of the box doesn’t interfere with store bought 2x4 stakes. The rough sawn oak I use needs trimming to fit. Some of this may be bad info as my local salesman said PJ was making some changes. Among other things he said the inverted V reinforcement that’s welded along the side of the body was going away as it was a spot where debris gathered and bred rust. The new design has one or more beads rolled into the steel sides to stiffen them. Whether or not the stake pocket design changes would be nothing more than a guess on my part.

I solved my problem with a DirecLink DL50 brake controller. With the correct adapter harness it’s plug and play, works well and supply’s full voltage on command with the manual lever. I’ve gotten no warning lights. If you’re feel flush the DL 100 adds a few bells and whistles.

I noticed the sides are smooth now. Were the old sides like my Load trail? Yes, they are a material sticky point, as are the D-rings.

Actually I meant the outside. Look at the photo midpoint between the stake pockets and the fender. It’s that fabricated box welded to the outside that they use for a stiffener. Supposedly that’s going by the wayside.

Okay, that's interesting. I don't think that is an issue on my Load Trail, however it has formed sides, no welds on the outside. Most dumps just use uprights in all sizes and strengths, no horizontal stiffeners. I like the Load Trail and PJ that use both.

Thanks JR, I saw that. It is weird that the review is all good or all bad. I should have stayed with my original plan and ordered from E-Trailer but this one was on sale....

If they don't respond soon, call your credit card company, and report it. That will either wake them up, or the card company will ding them.

Looks like Diamond C just upped the bar on dumps and incorporated the Fleet Neck and engineered beam main frame into their dumps. No info on pricing, specs or fine print yet. My local dealer just sent the picture to me. It looks like it might be an equipment show somewhere.
