There are two splits, top and bottom! SnoKing

Gotcha, I have one on the top only.

That might be one size too small, I had to use the big one from O'Reilly's.

I'll bet you can "rent" one from the local parts house that will work.

OK will get some accurate jaw opening measurement requirement and length/throw required, and see what I can rent. It is parked with the wheels turned to the drivers side right now. The steering arm on the passengers appears to be a little larger than the pitman arm between 1.75 and 2".

I didn't need it on the knuckle. That came off with 1 light hammer tap on the nut... the pitman arm was another story. I thought the damn tool was going to break.

I was thinking that one lines the new one up with the old one and gets the length close before installing it would help with steering wheel centering.

Are you actually worried so much you want to rent tools to get the job done and can’t wait to buy me a Ruben Sandwich and Beer when u get to WA???

Look on page 15 for torque specs. Atleast what I went with when I installed mine.
Being a shade tree mechanic Does (27 ft. lbs. Plus 180°) mean, torque it to 27 and then turn it 180 degrees? (44 ft. lbs. Plus 105°) torque it to 44 and then turn it 105 degrees??? Seem like no two would end up the same.

Yes that’s what it means.

I just had mine welded two weeks ago. Crappy, small welds. I wonder if they did that on purpose....to make the weld easier to grind away. I wouldn't trust these welds for much else, but I trust them to keep a nut from backing off. I suppose it is a good thing, kinda.

Correct, Torque to yeild is much more accurate for bolt stretch then just going to a set torque value.

My buddy has a Snap On torque wrench that i utilized for the install. It has the different setting for those values.

You can't really convert a torque plus angle procedure to a specific torque value. The angle portion of the procedure is used to stretch the bolt a specified amount.
Perhaps the Snap-On tool has the degree readout and an audible tone when you get the appropriate angle.

Went back out to mine this morning.

It does have slots top and bottom. Not sure how I missed that, lighting maybe.

I also used a set torque not the torque plus wrench angle. Holy crap that’s tight!
