Stake/ rack side ideas

Rv power converter has a .5 amp draw when not plugged in.

Was supposed to schedule shoulder surgery after ankle recover, but after a year with my ankle, I'm going to postpone til next year. It doesn't do badly as I exercise the same as physical therapy back in 2005 when I first injured it.

Everyday is a new day, so is today... feeling pretty good.

Thanks for caring and Cheers! Ron

Yea, don't push yourself when you are feeling good - I know I do that and then pay for it for a while as my back recovers.....

The good thing about the centramatics over the beads is that it balances the whole assembly, I'm pretty sure thats why my seat shake is gone. Well, and the fact they last so long and dont need to be changed or added with new tires.

Sorry to veer a bit off course with a dumb question, but is there any concern with brake cooling if Centramatics are installed?

Ron,

This might be teaching an old K9 a new way to roll over and fetch a stick, but were all staring at screens anyhow.

I pull tires from my AS, Dodge etc and rotate or inspect whoopee. But I try never to lift a tire.

You in that man cave might have a tire dolly, me not so but me do have a flat shovel and a round point. When it's time to lift that tire just a bit (in heap big awkward spot) I reach for a plain jane flat shovel even a round point will work. Tilt the tire away just a tiny bit slide the flat blade under the tread and push down on handle. Handle goes down tire goes up. slight push pull and tire will rotate a bit get it lined up on studs and bingo bango bongo tire is on studs. Pretty easy peasy.

OK back to our regular informative channel.

I roll the tire on my workboot and twist my foot to lift it/arrange it.

From my sight not, they have a big gap to the rim, if then there is only a marginal impact to the airflow.
Especially because oft the vented disc brakes that suck the air from the hub to the outside edge of the disc.

Installing the tire is really easy I use a two by four about three feet long just roll on line up tilt toward the studs, start lug nuts tighten 130 foot pounds.

Friends,

I only lift the vehicles enough to clear taking off the tire, sometimes requires walking it off the lugs. I try not to lift tires either, but do more or less a caveman (in the mancave:p) lift, Like Caveman Dan :p, where I line wheel in front of axle, sit in front of it (crab style:eek:), wedge my feet under each side, tighten my knees on either side of the tire , then with feet, knees, and hands lift the tire a couple inches to line up on the lugs. This could also be from a love making manual too :oops:.

Now, fer the bad news... the Centramatics won't work... the outer ring contacts the caliper, preventing rotation. Can't flip the balancer around as the flat side needs to contact the wheel. Called Centramatics and their application expert will call me tomorrow when she get back in. Unless they make one several inches further out to clear the caliper, it won't work.

So, putting it back. Ill let y'all know what Centramatics says tomorrow.

Cheers, Ron

No Spacers in the Box?

I run into the same issue with my 300-318 Set.
Tried to put it on, cursed a lot, put the wheel back onto the truck.
Threw the balancers back into the box - and then finally saw the Spacers at bottom of the box.

I felt like an idiot that I didn't check the box before. The spacers are NOT at the parts list anyways.

Have the tires back at DT for balancing BUT will look in the box when I get home. Thanks Ozy

EDIT: nothing in the box, but 1/4" to 5/16" space might work... much more than that and there wouldn't be much hub left to secure wheel. Gonna put it back together and put her back on the ground.

Cheers, Ron

From my view, no. Between my 98 And 14 I have hauled a good bit of hay wagons and gravity wagons on my cousin's farm - read, No trailer Brakes!- at low speeds and have never had a hot brake compared to the other farm trucks.
They really don't take away anymore real estate in the cooling aspect than the wheel does.

Friends,

Thought I would share visit at Discount Tire... Gentleman came to my truck and I mentioned my tires had not been balanced when I purchased from them... I mentioned they fit on my 39Ft 5th wheel RV and he proceeded to educate me trailer tires don't need balancing. I mentioned mine do. They balanced them in about 30 minutes. They are back on the RV and back on the ground. I hope Centramatics has solution for me as would REALLY like to use them. They work.

Anyhoo, I'll let y'all know what Centramatics says.

Cheers, Ron

In my experience, Discount Tire has really gone downhill. I used to get great service there but, the last time I went there for a new set of tires, I caught the kid about to use his impact gun to remove my locking lugs, even though the socket has a sticker on it showing an impact gun with a big red "X" over it. I went ahead & removed the locks myself & put them in my pocket so he wouldn't be tempted to use the gun to reinstall them. When they were done, I checked the tire pressures & found one tire that was 20 PSI low! Either their management is slipping or they're hiring the bottom of the barrel.

I've never been impressed with discount tire. They don't seem to have great service and charge more than other local retailers for the same tires/service.

Bill,

Yes sir, you really have to keep you eye on them. I had a problem once with them on tires for my dump trailer G rated tires that max pressure is 110lbs. I made mistake of ass-u-me-ing they would put that much air in them. Got 7 cubic yards of gravel and tires looked low under weight. I checked them and they only had 80Lbs psi. When I called and challenged them, they said their air compressor is safety limited at that level. So I told him they should have informed me as I could have ruined the tires underinflated and told the manager to make a notation and if I had a tire failure over the next year, I would expect a no cost replacemant. That was two years ago.

Today, I told them I have 126lbs psi in my tires and I wanted them to leave the air alone.

I have to drive 30+ miles to get to a DT, so I have been using a Big O here in town. It is definitely hit and miss. They put a couple marks in my wheels last time. They are minor, but that's not the point. They also lost one of my OEM valve stem caps, and when I went back to ask about it I just got the shoulder shrug. The local tire shop that I used to go to closed up a few years ago. I try to stay local, as when my wife's car picks up a nail, I want to have a place close by that she can go to if I am not around. They have been good about that. Poor service has become the way of the world.

I guess I've been lucky at my DT. Dodge, VW, Corolla, Accord (son's) and AS all are DT tire servicing. I do watch them as allowed.

My last service was R&R the transmitters in my AS Dill TPMS internal. They $$ matched Tire Rack, I did the R&R of tires they installed new transmitters, and hardware.

Price was for transmitters only. And balanced. I parked the AS in a nearby unused parking lot and had it up in the air on my jacks and stands. Quite a sight sitting w/o any tires.

Friends,

Spoke to the Centramatics engineer today and no way to make the balancers work on Dexter 8KLb MorRyde IS as there isn't sufficient clearance between the wheel and the caliper. He told me it can't be shimmed with spacers either. So, they are going to provide me an RMA to send them back. Glad I got the wheels balanced yesterday.

Anyhoo, all done.

Cheers, Ron
