I have one of these https://www.genosgarage.com/product/acutemp-adapter/gauge-related installed on the output line in my truck. When I haul a trailer from town to my exit from the 2 lane highway, then turn onto the 1-1/2 mile dirt road to my house I go from 60 mph on a steady 7 mile (4-5%) uphill grade to 10 mph on a fairly flat grade dirt road to my place. Watching the temp gauge I don't see much of an increase in temp (maybe 2*) from the 60 mph to initial 10 mph, with obviously a great difference in "wind cooling" of the temp clamp on adapter. I also wondered if the the airflow over the adapter would be a problem, but I haven't noticed it yet. They do say in the instructions, IIRC, that the temp will register 5-10* lower than actual temp of the fluid. Just my personal observation.I’d like to see the indicated temp difference between that one and one like mine in the hose between the metal line and the cooler. I noticed one review that said his didn’t work while he was moving.
It is just at the edge of the fluid. I wish it were all a perfect setup. I don't want to block any flow, but it isn't located center stream either.
Now it will scare the heck out of you backing up a good load, I know it does me.Fingers crossed that our '96 w/ 47RE will hang in there for a long time to come. The original owner purchased the truck in British Columbia and made a variety of transmission upgrades (BD-TC, etc...) in the late 90's and early 2000's prior to us obtaining it in '11. He had a Banks temp gauge and sensor added to the stock pan as well. I recently added the Geno's - https://www.genosgarage.com/product/acutemp-adapter/gauge-related unit onto the trans output tube and moved the wire over from the pan sensor. Now the gauge registers temps in the 170-190 range on highway,w/o load. Haven't been able to tow yet. The pan sensor never shows any movement unless your towing at least 8K up a steep grade.
