OR......they have enough money so they aren't too concerned about it, and they want their truck now.

Found an article that confirms this is not going away looking forward. China is sucking up all baseline products such as metal, lithium, copper, even lumber.
Buckle up. This is our future and yes tariffs didn't help but really a result of post pandemic activity.

I am seeing a lot of hotshot trucks lately. Word on the street is, freight is higher than it has ever been.

My brother was talking to a local trucker with a refer that said, some coast to coast $5k loads are now $8k.

What's the difference in paying sticker or over if that's the only way? I think paying MSRP is coming if not already here.

Bought any ammo lately or plywood? Realtors are offering builders thousands over the going price for homes around here.

And, that's idiotic.
All paying more than the asking price does is screw the next buyer, because then the sellers expect it.
People with more money than sense just screws everyone else.
If everyone refused to pay extra, then nobody would be trying to charge extra.

Yup, just like RV transport, retired folks with an income want to tour the country so they will haul for peanuts.

Same with guys wanting a back haul, they will haul cheap to get home.

I posted this a few days ago on another forum.

I pulled this off a news clip a few days ago, they are talking about used truck prices, the title of this thread.

"Compared to April 2020, the increase is a whopping 21.0%. (New vehicles prices rose 0.5%.)"

After looking for a used truck for the past year, this is what I found so I started looking at new trucks.

So pay 21% above market value for an unknown quality used truck or 0.5% plus for a new truck.

I am looking at only 3-7 % off MSRP, unheard of but....

$60,900 today. Will be interesting to see where this goes in a month. Of course wood will be up 400% by then, food, gas...

The one basic rule of supply and demand never fails. It is the heartbeat of a free society.

If I am buying a product, and I am willing to pay the asking price, the next guy is not my concern. If I want it, and have the money, I'm buying it. Not idiotic.

Idiotic to pay more than the sticker price.

My hard earned money is worth more than that to me, I'm not frivolous with it.

Anyway, earnings report should be at a record level. Stocks will show solid growth looking forward. We are in one of, if not the greatest economic expansion known.
It's historical times.

I guess thats how some folks look at it. Government spending Trillions for nothing, inflation skyrocketing to the moon yet government still doesnt know it (or rather admit it). EVERYTHING is much more expensive, how much has your paycheck increased compared to what you are paying for food, gas, rent, a new house, used car?
The only thing "historic" is showing the large percentage of Americans who are lemmings.

My experience last night is somewhat related to this thread. I am helping my mother search for a newer Jeep Grand Cherokee. We went to a smaller family owned dealer last night. As a matter of fact I purchased a used Jeep Grand Cherokee from them last year in June of 2020. We drove a nice 2020 Overland - Hemi with 28k miles. Surprisingly they didn't even clean this car up much. The price was $46k. They would only come down $250 and laughed at our cash offer of $44k. They pointed to a truck that was unloading 6 Jeep vehicles. He said that was his allotment for the next month. Apparently they cannot get much of anything. He can't even get Chrysler vehicles. I asked about any incentives for a new JGC and there are none. Pay the sticker price. We will wait as it is not something we have to buy right now.
I do like this dealer because he gets some interesting old iron in for sale. Check out this 1976 Dodge Power Wagon.

I read the other day that the KY Speedway in Sparta, KY is filled with Ford trucks - all waiting on computer chips.
The folks in Washington need to key in that this shortage of computer chips needs to be on the radar for our national defense. We need to be able to acquire chips from somewhere else besides China.....

I was actually toying with the idea of a newer pickup because of some investments that have been doing well but I am not going to pay ransom prices in this era of hyperinflation.
