I can't speak to this exact question. But it's interesting.
I have made various electric retrofits between model years. For example, when faced with a huge $$$$ cost to install power mirrors on a 2004 Tradesman, I retrofitted in a 1996 power mirror controller to operate a set of 2004 power mirrors. I put the controller knob on the dashboard. When making that kind of year to other year retrofits, it is really helpful to have the factory TSM for both years. That way, you can compare the wiring diagrams for a given part for the years you're swapping. Wire insulation and tracer colors may vary from year to year. But the functions often don't change. But it is important to know.
When I did the mirror retrofit, I created a completely separate circuit that didn't interact with any of the other circuits on the 2004. (Part of the reason for doing that was that there was no mirror circuit at all to "interact" with.) I then did the exact same retrofit on a 2007 Tradesman, this time on the side of a road in Oregon.
