Volvo D3 - 5 Cylinder - So I need to have my turbo reconditioned, new core and nozzle ring, which will be in the next two weeks. I am contemplating if I should put a downpipe on.....reason being the DPF and CAT is in one canister, DPF insides were removed in 2018, then I saw this plate in the "cat" connecting to the turbo, which in my mind is a restriction. I am just scared removing it, may cause other problems....and I am not getting a lot of info on this...
Will also be doing a re-tune.

I did a back box delete a year ago and lost torque bottom end, so I had the back box put back. But this time I will be doing a new tune after turbo recon.
What do you think, yes or no....is this piece very important....or just a restriction...not sure why it was put in, maybe just for emissions...?

Howdy! How's your research so far?
Hi, well did not get a lot of info, so I thought about the whole process of what this plate can do. Anyway, turbo was rebuild, and the nozzle ring was burnt white because of very very high temps. And it has to be due to this. This plate helps keeping temps high for the DPF regen and also as a cat.

So we put on a downpipe, and my low down torque from pull away went up 100nm. No power loss low down, there is much more power, turbo spools up fast....and the sound, geeez. Don't hear it inside the vehicle, but outside it sounds like a jet lol.

Great to hear about downpipe success! My uncle got thiss Volvo D3 project and it may need some turbo adjustments. We'll just finish installing the rotors and method wheels onto the truck before we can take her in.

So far I am very impressed, just need to get my Vida going to do a VNT adaptation, turbo is holding back.
Keep me updated, there are loads you can do to get plenty power out of them, but this is my daily drive.

Is it a 5 cylinder?
