Driveshaft leaking ATF

Snow Performance Stage 2.5 water/methanol injection

I t seems it is taking longer for my 5.9 to start. Once started it seems to run fine. I have to say it seems to be getting poorer mileage, but that may be I dread paying for the next fill up

Thanks
Don

Sounds like you're losing prime on the injectors. Could be pump from tank not sending fuel to injection pump and injection pump is having to pull fuel to push to injectors. When was the last fuel filter change? Is there any fuel leaking on the ground overnight when parked? On another front, is it turning over as before or slower? You could be fighting an electrical issue. Could be crossover cable, starter, weak batteries or all of the above! Need more info to help.

It turns over the same and yes is due for filter. Was not wanting to do is the weather we have been having

What year truck? does it have the in tank pump or does it have the small lift pump mounted on the back of the filter. I only know what I have read and that is those are prone to failing and make starts difficult. I converted mine to the in tank pump with the Mopar kit so I would not get caught in this situation.

You need proper diagnostic here. Monitoring rail pressure during start-up. It can be a slow starter too. Lift pump would be my last concern, I guess you can hear it run on ign. On.

Agree with Ozy. If you don't meet meet proper rail pressure it won't fire. Poorer mileage sounds like a leaky injector which won't get rail pressure up.

I had to put injectors in mine. I was having a rail pressure issue and it turned out to be them. I actually went to long on mine, 300K when replaced. However I have a FASS pump on mine and have bypassed all the factory fuel system, I change my filters annually because mine sits for sometimes weeks, but I only put about 10K a year on it. Also you never said how many miles are on your 2500.

Just went though this. Normal start (sometimes) and then dies. Then long start and then runs okay. A week later, same thing. A week after that really long start. Wondered if I might need to call my wife. A little trouble shooting showed no tank pump running when bumping the key after key off. Intermittent for a little while and then finally dead.

The injector pump would not reliably pull through the dead tank pump. Had to carry a milk jug full of diesel to pour into the fuel filter container while trying to get the 55 miles to my shop. Did not make it. Towed last 15 miles.

So, verified the dead pump by disconnecting the tank pump (wasn't that fun - frigging red clip). New pump still in box worked. So dropped the tank, cleaned it out, installed new tank pump, remounted tank, and took a few tries to re-prime the fuel line.

Got my trusty truck back. Three revolutions - running.

2005 5.9 long bed, NV5600, quad cab 3500 4x4.

My truck has 235k on it. Original injectors. So I will replace those just because of age and miles. It doesn't normal start. Crank time seems to be getting a little longer each start. not wanting to drop fuel tank.
