With a 6sp, 2wd, and 3. 73 gears I've been seeing consistant mid 20's over the past several tanks. Daily commuting and driving conservatively.
Just did the fuel tank mod and was able to fill the tank to within about 1/2 gallon of full when it shut off the pump. It saved me a ton of time at...
Last tank, 743. 8 miles on 28. 063 gallons. I can live with the poor mileage these new 600 are getting.
Just came back from a trip pulling a loaded 7x18 enclosed trailer. Don't have the mileage figured for that yet. Suspect it will be around 12. 5/gal running 75mph.
Well put. The driver is the biggest variable. I'm trying to get good mileage. Don't want to pay the $2. 09-2. 25/gal. Fuel mileage on mine has contiually gone up with miles and after a rather hard pull with the trailer. I'm at 19,000 miles and mid 20's (22-26) in mileage. 800 miles on a tank is...
I was suprised also. The previous tank unloaded was 24. 5mpg. The tanks inbetween were pulling a 7x18 enclosed trailer at 75mph and averaged 12. 6mph. I think really working the motor has helped. The only mod is an AFE drop-in air filter. Of course now I'm trying to get into the 27's.
Last tank for me was 744 miles on 28. 34gal filled to the brim. Normal driving back and forth to work (roughly 30 miles one way at 55-65mph and varied traffic).
My mileage has always been pretty good, about 19mpg when new and consistanly in the 22-24 range now with just under 19,000 miles...
Every time I do some hauling and run the truck rather hard my mileage will improve. I have 18,000 miles and empty it's pretty easy to get 20+mpg. Last tank was in the mid 24's and this tank is looking even better but I drive like an old man.
Mileage when new was decent, mid 19's. It just...
Glad it's your problem and not mine :-laf . It is what it is. I have no reason to fabricate mileage. Just got done with a 700 mile trip with my enclosed trailer. Running 75mph pulling an 7x18 trailer, roughly 5000lbs on mixed terrain I only managed 12. 6mph. Does that make you feel better?
Now I went 783. 3 miles on 32 gallons last tank, 24. 5mpg done by hand to the brim. Just driving back and forth to work over a 3 week period of time with the air on. If I remember correctly the build date on my motor was sometime in December. The truck has just under 18,000 miles and was run in...
I picked one up about a month ago. Haven't noticed any performance or mileage changes. I just didn't want to spend $28 for a throw-away air filter. It was more difficult to get the airbox lid closed, probably more me that it.
Now that you mentioned the AFE air filter I also get less smoke than I use to under the same situations. The stock filter under a heavier load would smoke. With the drop in Pro-Guard 7, not nearly as bad. I haven't noticed a fuel mileage change but atleast I'm not spending $30/filter every few...
My drop-in AFE Pro Guard 7 arrived today. Dropped right in, go figure. It was a tight fit to get the airbox top back on however. I assume you're getting the Cold Air set-up with the tube.
I drove both the auto and 6-speed. I didn't like having to press on the brake pedel so hard at stop lights to keep it from creeping forward.
I find the 6-speed (what I ended up buying) almost boring to drive at speed while towing. I've never had to downshift up grades where an auto would...
