    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

I drove a 3:92 enough to see there was a difference in MPG's and have a nephew with a 3:92 in his and his highway MPG averages about 2MPG less, but around town basically the same. He wanted a lower gear ratio because he tows an enclosed tool trailer 5 days a week, and has a bass boat and camper...

    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

I asked a guy the other day how his 04 Hemi that he bought about same time as I bought my truck was doing, his is equipped about same as mine except Engine, even 3:55 gears and it's same damn color. His best at 55mph is 18mpg and at 72mph says he averages 12mpg if not towing his bass boat or...

    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

I didn't want that low of gearing because I figured I'd never tow more then couple thousand pounds or at most three thousand pounds. I probably hit 3,000lb mark moving using a friends trailer I borrowed. I still don't own a trailer and only reason I would need one is to take my small 1,900lb...

    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

I was wondering about that, because I just noticed the lip today and besides with 5'.5" bed the cover wouldn't make much difference anyway even without excellent aerodynamically designed truck. My mpg is so damn accurate that it amazes me, thought my 05 MB E300 diesel was accurate always within...

    MPG reports

I could average 5mpg more if I didn't love the feel of the torque so much or the sound of the turbo sucking air.

    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

The gearing in transmission negates the difference unless towing, just normal driving even with 3:55 gears my truck never uses 1st gear unless I select the gear. With a lot more torque at 1000 rpm then a big Hemi, moving this 6200lb truck is no strain with 3:55 gears and at 70mph on flat highways...

    MPG reports

Still doing about same for MPG except when I'm driving it like I stole then it will drop about 3 to 4 mpg but truck it still cheap to drive. My DEF gauge is strange, when filling from 1/4 it only takes 5gal to hit full, and then it take 3gal more to fill to get to full. Then I can get...

    Eco-Diesel Oil

Amazing how import duties can screw up a good thing. I went and looked at the $6 quart of Pennzoil I bought at the dealer in Jan and it has MS-11106 printed on the label. I bought the quart for topping off and truck hasn't used any in 5000 miles, not to mention a $36 intake air filter that still...

    Eco-Diesel Oil

Looks like I owe an apology to people here, seems the Pennzoil for our ECO diesel has gone thru a change in container looks, but same oil. Here is current container, also found doing some searching that Pennzoil gave Chrysler has special pricing arrangement for putting the Pennzoil as factory...

    Eco-Diesel Oil

All you have to do is read the spec for both, only ones with Chrysler MS-11106 spec are ones I listed. The one listed in #8 is not for diesel car or truck and low ash for particulate filter. That said it's your truck go with that oil and if you use the non spec oil and have a engine/exhaust...

    New truck Issue

Mine did same thing till I had about 1000 to 1500 miles on the truck. Funny thing for me is the last 12 years of parking 81 to 05 MB diesels in garage and have to open doors before starting due to smell and soot everywhere, the ECO diesel doesn't have that problem. I can not smell the exhaust...

    3.55 vs 3.92 rear end

Mine has 3.55 locking rear axel and duel factory exhaust. Winter stop and go is running 22-25mpg, level interstate at 71mph I average 28-30mpg depending on if winter or summer. Towed 1500lb trailer, truck bed loaded as was interior moving last summer with 3 trips averaged 28mpg thru Ozark Hills...

    Eco-Diesel Oil

This is not spec to 11106 and is for high performance gas engines, you want VX 5W-30 and it's running about $11 on Amazon. Here is one source of VX 5W-30 http://oilstore.stores.yahoo.net/peplvxsymooi.html

10,000 Mile EcoDiesel Fuel Filter Change

Well after seeing this I guess it will go to dealer for fuel filter change along with oil change. At least I can change oil and oil filter along with fuel filter on my new Mahindra tractor.

    first oil change

One thing I always noticed on my Diesel cars is the EGR and CCV created a mess in the intakes and intercoolers and depending on how driven, type and quality fuel used, and oil used. None ever found a cure w/o doing away with EGR and CCV, however Mobil 1 5w-40 diesel truck oil and a few others...

    MPG reports

Pretty much same with mine, and I sure love the way it drives on our hilly, curvy highways here in the Ozarks. I have been down in NE Arkansas flat country with 55mph speed limit where it averaged 41 mpg, but here in MO Ozarks cruising 72 to 73 in the 65 mph zones so it won't downshift on the...
