I see a guy in N. Texas has posted on DTR that his 235-80-17R has seperated. The interesting thing is that he states that that size -THE ONLY SIZE - is backordered and he can't find any in that area.

This truck has been in production over one year and there are still no tires out there other than Goodyear - if you can find them - at an inflated price. :--)

Is there any interest here from you '03 dually owners in a formal, united protest to DC and Goodyear? Or, are you content with the monopolistic situation?

There numbers really aren't there yet to justify another tire company in making the molds, testing, etc and pumping out tires.

Do you folk understand there is only one tire available?

You don't have to go to a different wheel size to improve brake function. However, you would require the services of a competent engineer.

If Ford and Chev don't go to a 17" wheel, Dodge dually owners are screwed. :--)

What are you gonna do when you pop two on the same trip?

Ah, well, that's life.

adsharp, don't know what your fishing for, read you're note on the other forum as well, dc put on what they wanted to. if you don't like it, trade for something else.

Do you think any of the *****ing we do on here is going to make a difference? NO! D. C. doesn't care. If they did, you wouldn't see the same forums month after month. All this crap has been going on for a full model year and nothing ever gets done! Just drive the trucks until the tires come off! Maybe by then, Ford will have a better diesel. I have had Ford products and they have better quality than the Dodge's I have owned. They just have diesel motor that isn't worth it's weight in scrap. Sorry fellow TDR members but the truth hurts sometimes!

I'm gonna be in a pinch for tires soon too. Its easy to type 19. 5's on aluminum wheels, its a lot tougher to cough up the nearly $4000 to make the change:--)

Well, the plain jane black wheels start around $185, times 6 is: $1,110. 00 and the tires can be had for $189 or so in a Kumho. My estimate is $2400 or so mounted. Sound right? I base my numbers on the Rickson site.

Now I hear the 17" dually tires are between $180 to $238 each. , but I have not priced them myself. What are the factory GSA tires running?

I personally will stay with the GSA rubber unless they don't hold up at all. ;)

The tires are about the same price as far as I can tell and I don't need a stronger tire. My concern is finding these some what rare 17" tires. That may be a problem when traveling. I'm checking on a raod hazard policy this week. Any recomendations? Goodyear store, NTB?

Tire Rack sells the GS/A blackwalls for $158, the white lettered for $161. They sell the SR/A for $156/161, but you do NOT want those if you live where it rains.

Went to ck out about getting some spacers for my truck today and found my local Discount Tire store had four 235/80R/17's in stock. This is in Victoria, Tx. They cked and found several singles in some of their Houston stores. Told them to get one shipped in and bought five of them on the spot. (my spare has never been on the ground) My tires have almost 66,000 miles on them and probably could make 80,000 miles. I'm keeping all five of my takeoffs to use in an emergency. The tires cost $201. 88 per tire. Discount called Goodyear direct and found they are on a national backorder. He named off some states where there were none in Goodyear warehouses, Ca. , Ill. , Ind. , Mich. , are some that I can remember. All I can say is to ck around and if you find some, you had better get them. Goodyear went back to producing them this week. Said it would be six weeks before they would be readily available. I got lucky, good luck to anyone else who needs them.

It sounds like it would be a bad time for flats.

I have a discount tire less than a mile away, I'll have to stop in. $208 seems high, I wonder what the road hazard on six will run? Has anyone lost a tire and had trouble replacing it?

Road hazard was $36. 00 a tire, I did not take it. Goodyear has a prorated road hazard, I'll take my chances with that.

Expensive to me.

Yeah thats too much for me too. $216. 00 for my truck at that price.

It would have been nice if DC would have just re-thought the ratios and given us the 19. 5s from the factory. I think the 4:10s would be just about right.

Yep, factory 19. 5's would have been a winner, but then the kick back deal with Goodyear would not have been so good for them. I bet DC is getting a great price on their tires.

If any of you guys are having that hard of a time getting the Goodyear dually tires, PM me as we have some in Lexington, KY. Also, our Bridgestone/Firestone rep has indicated the Dueler A/T REVO's will soon be available in LT265/70R17, LT285/70R17, and LT235/80R17 early this fall.

That is very good news. Goodyear has clobbered a lot of working folk by cutting a lot of jobs , etc. I think Dunlop is still making tires here and Michelin and others I'm sure. I had heard that Goodyear was closing the big place in Gadsden but don't know if they have yet. Dallas morning news said they were going to eliminate another 5500 jobs over the next few months.

thanks! :p

The Gadsen plant is still open so far. I pass it once a month or so.

The Revo tread? AT maybe? I would love to get away from Goodyear GSA's. Not my favorite tire company. ;)

Goodyear is really struggling. If memory serves me right, they lost about $73 million the last quarter; not sure what the first quarter was like.
