Wiring help please!!!!

The 4bt will fit joust fine. It is the same as a 6bt only shorter. The OBD issues might be a challenge when you have it inspected.

inspected you mean by the DEQ etc ? im out of that area im intersted in the mounts thats what i thought that the 4bt is just shorter unless a person would have to shift the transmission forward id like to keep everything in the stock location

I wouldnt move the trans forward. The mounts will work for a 6bt or a 4bt. The 4bt will just be shorter. ( the motor wont be as close to the radiator). Which is a good thing. You wont have to deal with fan clearance issues. You can easily get more hp and torque from 4bt so it will be as much or more power than a 6. 5 or gasser so power wont be an issue.

Scott when i e-mailed said theyd hit but who knows , what do you need out of them ?

Do you know if i can use my current gm transadapter that i got in the truck know or not ? and will a gas transmission hold up ?

I got a bread truck it has a auto id rebuild it but im told those you cant use because of the slant if it does , never really noticed . Would you do $50 ?

Bump. Just wanted to let everyone know that the burb/cummins conversion is still running strong. No issues. Wife is doing vendor shows for her/our bussiness loading it up pretty good. She is using it to burn up the highway like there is no tomorrow. FYI

The Suburban is still running good. Runs a lot smoother since I rebuilt the injectors. Has some occasional surging. Not sure why Hoping it is not the injector pump but will replace/rebuild if it keeps up. Getting ready to go thru the front end as well as replace front coils with 1ton springs. Also going to install bigger stabilizer bars from Belltech to keep it from handling like a land ark. Will keep you posted.

Im wondering if a 6bt would work in a 1/2 ton if i replace the rear end to the 6 bolt version of the 14 bolt rearend ? unless the 4bt would work and tow as well

It would work but it would be a lot of weight on the 1/2 ton suspension. My burb is a 2500 and I noticed a big difference when I put the CTD in. I just went thru the front end and switched over to 1ton springs up front because of that.

Yes 2wd. It was built primarily to haul the family around in. Part of me would like to have a 4wd but at the time the swap on the 2wd made more economical sense. Do you still have your 1983 Suburban? I think I would like to do a 4bt in a 1/2ton something in the future. Maybe a square bodied blazer.

Yes i still have the 83 , but the cancer keeps getting worse and some how before i got it the frame was sprung so im going to put the parts in chevy pu i got

Just wanted to post an update. Went thru the front end. Upgraded to 1 ton springs in the front. Replaced two tie rod ends and the wheel bearings on one side. Brakes up front and also bigger sway bar in front and added a sway bar in the rear. The CTD is running strong as ever. Starts up instantly with the slightest touch to the key even without the heater grids hooked up. It has turned out to be a very reliable daily driver that gets good fuel mileage for its weight and can still haul the family around as well as loading the back with whatever we need. Someday I would like to upgrade to a trans with lockup but that is not an immediate need.

Suburban Update

Posting an update on the Burb. She is still running good. I got some new tires about two months ago. New wheels also. Had to change out a water pump, serpentine belt about three months ago. A thermostat today. Other than that she is still running steady. Going on 4.5yrs since the conversion. No regrets about time and $ for this vehicle. Would do it again no question asked. I would like to do a 4BT in an older K5 Blazer at some point in the future.

Take a look at this- I saw it at Carlisle several years ago. It looked like a factory install, right down to the Getrag transmission.
