Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 1500? anything for performance

hey guys

got a neighbor that wants a chip or programmer for his 1500. not knowing much about gasser performance I thought I'd see if ya'll had any suggestions... I told him to by a cummins and than I could help him :-laf I think it's a 2000 not sure

I had a chip from Jet Performance in my 97 1500 SST that did give it more kick in the rear. Think I paid 250 or so back in 98 for the chip. Did have to switch to a lower temp thermo to avoid detonation when truck warmed up. I'm sure there are better things out there now for the 1500.



With the chip there was IMMEDIATE response from the throttle, truck was noticably quicker and I think it optomized the trans shift points etc.

May I suggest a Cummins - to start. :-laf Sorry I can't believe there's not some stuff for a gasser out there. Doesn't Jegs, Summit or the like have anything?

yep. . tried that. . I know he wants one b/c he waits in the driveway to watch me throw smoke leaving and coming home. . I give him a couple years and he'll have one :-laf

i had a mopar performace computer in my 92 dakota when i was in high school, it really woke the truck up, took . 3 off my et's at the track. i know they have them for the ram's

My buddy is looking to get rid of the Jet chip on his 1500 Ram. He's stationed here at Mtn Home AFB with me.

Jet Performance Module, Stage 1 for 96-03 5. 9L Dodge pickemup trucks. Prolly would fit on 98 Jeep ZJ, whetever else has a 5. 9L... Duragno, Dakota, etc.

I went with the mopar performance computer over jet because I had heard factory computer will relearn around jet chip to some, dont know for sure though. Down fall to jet chip or mopar computer is you have to run premium or the engines ping.

Very true but it wasnt when I had the jeep and I def dont miss the 12 mpg I got with 32's on it.
