Looking to replace my Goodyear Wrangler RT/S LT 245/75R16 with the same size tire but a highway tread with raised while letters. Anything out there?

Do a tire search on google, then look at images only and pick a couple you like, then ask the question which is better. I’m partial to Michelin, even have them on my Harley. They are quality and wear decent. My OEM Goodyear’s on my Tacoma are looking worn with only 26K on the clock.

Michelin LTX in the stock LT245/75r/16 have always worked very well for me. Michelin discontinued the LTX A/S which were the best tires I 've had on my truck. Two sets of five last more than 200K miles.

Anyone have experience with the Michelin XPS Rib tires in 245/75r/16 or 235/85r/16? Look to be exceptional highway tires....

I always hate to be the one that doesn't recommend Michelin. But, I want to add my experience.

I was a faithful Michelin buyer until I had a complete sidewall separation on a 265/70/17 LTX MS2 on my 1/2 ton several years ago. I was informed by my tire dealer that there was a defective batch of those tires that was suffering sidewall failures and that I should contact Michelin.

Here is the copy of the recall notice

https://www.michelinman.com/US/en/help/safety-recalls/latitude-tour.html

Anyway, if you read the notice, the 265/70/17 is not included in the recall. When speaking with the Michelin representative assigned to my complaint, I was told in no uncertain terms that there was no possibility that the sidewall separation that happened on my nearly new tires could possibly be related to the recall of the tires of the same model in different sizes. And, they offered absolutely no warranty or prorated coverage for that tire since it had to be my fault that my nearly new tire blew the sidewall out at highway speed. By the way, the MS2 line has now been replaced by the Defender.

That will be the last time I waste my money on Michelin tires. I am very happy that others continue to have good luck with their products. However, I can't in good conscience recommend their products after the experience that I had.

Does firestone have a comparable quality tire, commercial as well?

Sorry you had such a bad experience with Michelin.

Bridgestone Duravis would be the commercial tire. I don't have any experience with them.

I have Firestone Destination on one of my trucks, Bridgestone Dueler on one, and Goodyear Duratrac on the other currently. All are AT tires. I'm not familiar with what they offer in a highway tread.

Nitto Duragrappler.
I buy Michelins for my wife's Honda, but with all the weight on these things prefer a stronger sidewall than Michelin offers.
Toyo delivers that to me.

Not sure if they come in your size but check out Bridgestone dueller 685 ht.Put on my 2016 3500 and am very happy so far.Got them at Costco and have a treadware warranty. Only complaint is they pick up rocks so if you drive gravel roads maybe not a great choice. They only come in lt rating great on highway and good in rain as well as snow.just checked they do make them in your size and alot cheaper than Toyos or Michelin. Good luck

I'm really happy with the Goodyears i have on my 08, and my son really likes his coopers on his toyota. I like to try and buy from a USA company if possible. the coopers on my 04 have been amazing, i think i have over 58K on them and i still have an easy 15-20K to go. rotate around every 10K

If it were me, I think I would have to contact my states atty gen and my own lawyer about that.

I went through every tire at Sam's club. All but one model of 245/75-16 have very soft and flexible sidewalls. The one tire with the stiffest sidewall is the Goodrear Wrangler HT. They have no mileage warranty, but are $145 each and have an $80 discount on a set of four (or five) 'til the end of the year.

I'll probably buy a set of four (or five if the original spare with all of 15 miles on it looks like it's too old). My wheels are out of true and the rear suspension bushings are original; the truck will quickly wear down even high-mileage tires.

If I had the money and the suspension components were solid, I'd buy anoher set of Rickson 225/70-19.5 load range E tires (and wheels): two steel sidewall plies and 4 steel tread plies. They don't flop around.

Not a hiway tire, but I've gotten up to 91K miles out of BFG Rugged Trail T/A, towing and off road use, now on my 4th set.

Regards
Gemstone

I only have best luck with Michelin tires. I always get exactly or little more miles than they say. I use Michelin LTX M/S2. Guaranteed for 70k miles. I have 377k miles on the truck and have purchased a tire or 2. Also my Dodge is a 4x2 3500.

I've run XPS rib Michelins on my 98 standard cab Dodge for 14 years. They last about 150,000 miles. Some of those miles are towing a 10,000 pound fifth wheel. They do ride hard compared to the LTX but feel better to me when towing, "I ran LTX's before." They are also heavy since they are an all steel belted tire. I'm an X Fed X contract mechanic and they switched to the XPS on the front of their Sprinters in our tire size about five years ago. Fed X fleet management doesn't make many mistakes. The XPS rib is not recommended for cold temperature use.

Another vote for Michelin, nothing on my 2001.5 but Michelin since day 1. Had to change tread styles a couple times as AS went away, MS2 went away, etc. Now running the Defender.
I would buy from https://www.discounttire.com/tires/brands/michelin AND purchase the Certificates For Repair, Refund or Replacement. I destroyed a tire on a gravel road that was almost due for replacement last fall, here is what I posted about that last fall: Five new tires out the door for $852.55 on my Dodge 2500, very happy with Michelin and Discount Tire! This includes $151.25 in their extended warranty which I also previously had and which paid for one new tire 100% that was destroyed this week, six year old tires, hard to beat that! But wait there is more, another $70 on a mail in rebate! That all works out to be $156.51/tire including new extended warranty for very nice Michelin tires. Edit to share direct link to my current tires, yes they have OWL, I have them turned inside! https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/michelin-defender-ltx-m-s/p/11304

Michelin truck tires in the model and size with raised white letters. That's if raised white letters are essential. Michelin XPS Rib steel cord sidewall and steel belt if you can manage without raised white letters.

I've been using Michelin tires on everything, including trailers, since 1973. I put Michelin tires on my truck after the OEM Goodyears started to give up. Firestone? No way, nohow in this climate. Maybe a bicycle.

I love my Cooper Discoverer. I have the 265 size but for a 90% highway 10% snow tire it's a great one. Long lasting, less money then most others and quiet and smooth.
