Transmission yoke needed for 89 d250 5 speed manual

overdrive switch

Exactly, which makes the NV5600 a close ratio transmission through all of the gears. Starting out from a stop and picking up speed on a uphill grade with a heavy load is where the NV5600 shines. There are two benefits when operating the NV5600 in the first five forward gears: 1 - less RPM drop when upshifting puts the turbo in a more efficient operating zone, which means less turbo lag. 2 - The transmission output torque will always be higher in the upshifted gear compared to that of the Getrag 5 spd transmission.

Thanks for info I no there isn’t hardly any difference between the 6th and 5th ratios....
I was wondering about the “hardly” lol

Here is comparison of gear ratios for many transmission, including the Getrag and the NV5600.

I would really like to have the early G56 with it's 6.29 1st gear. My 5.63 1st in my NV5600 just don't get it on a uphill launch with a heavy load. The 6 spd shines on the down hill with exhaust brake too, more choices. Humm, 7 spd?:)

So tdr I got my shifter built lastnight... will post pics tonight driveshaft got back today from the city. Hopefully a test drive tonight!!
Still need to cut and splice my reverse light harness not happy about it but it’s to short did y’all have that have done this swap have the same issue? My speedo wire and vent hose to Tcase worked out nice! Thanks tdr for the good help and info..

Yes, I forgot to mentioned the benefits of using the exhaust brake on downgrades with the NV5600.

To bad an 8 speed transmission that shifted like the old 8 speed Roadranger couldn't be used. That would be an awesome setup - use the first four holes, raise the T-bar and do it again.
