I want to run 315/75/16's on my truck. From what I have read the 2 1/2 " will take 33's, and the 4" will take 35's. I want to have the best ride possible, so I am leaning toward the 2 1/2". Has anybody tried to do a little fender trimming with some bushwhacker flares, or maybe build some taller shackles?

On my wifes 92, I have a Skyjacker 2 1/2" lift. Current tires are 35" BFG AT-KO's on 16. 5 x 8. 5" wheels. I did very minimal fender trimming to get them to fit and still used the original wheel well trim (LE package) after the trimming. The clearance from the top of the tire to the top of the wheel well looks just right for my tastes, not too much, nor too little.

Sawcut,

I have 33/12. 5/16. 5 on my truck with no suspension modifications. The tires only rub during a short turn & hitting a bump. My truck is probably lower than most because the suspension was originally for a small block V8. Take a look @ the photos in the readers rigs.

I run the same size tires, and get slight occasional rub just like Doug. Doesn't seem to bother the factory factory wheelwell moldings. :) The previous owner said he had the front springs re-arched and added a leaf, but it seems to set at about stock height.

I installed the 4 1/2" springs (actually the whole double flex kit). I think that the ride quality actually improved over stock with the skyjacker kit. I have had it on the truck for about 16 months now and I did already have to replace the shocks. I chose to go with bilstiens, but are not really happy with them. I am running 315/75/16's mudders. I have pictures in the members area under FFL8N.
