My truck died 2 times yesterday on the road. Got it running after cranking for 30 seconds. Ran for 2 miles and then died. Just replaced LP, it is pumping plenty of fuel. The first code coming up is 0602, then the 1693. I read what they are but I don't understand them. Any help?

The code pretty well states the PCM is at fault and needs to be replaced and programmed. You may try and disconnect the batteries and then reconnect them after a few minutes to see if that may help. I do not have any other suggestions. Maybe someone else will chime in. This information is from the factory service manual:

P0602-ECM FUELING CALIBRATION

Possible Causes: ECM

Ignition on, engine not running.

Note: at this time, the condition required to set the DTC is present.

Record FREEZE FRAME DATA.

Refer to TSB's and download an updated calibration if available.

Note: If you update controller before reading Freeze Frame, it will erase data.

Operate the vehicle in Freeze Frame parameters.

Did P0602 Return?

Yes: Replace and program the ECM in accordance with the Service Information.

No: Test Complete.

I did disconnect the batteries, and it will not clear the code. As soon as I turn the ignition on the code pops up and I cannot get it started. I did crack the injectors to see if I was getting fuel. I cracked 1,2, and 3, I am getting fuel but it is not even at each cylinder. I'm curious, if my VP44 is out could it be sending a message to the ECM, which inturn is sending me the 0602 code? Or is the 0216 code the only code that you get when the VP 44 goes? I installed an Air Dog 100 on it about 1 month ago, had no problems till now. Could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks

I did see on thoroghbred diesel website, that it called out 0602 as VP 44 failure. I just want to be certain. Is there any test out there that anyone knows about? So far no shop has been able to help me out. Even Cummins northwest couldn't tell me anything, they just wanted me to bring it in. Thanks for everything so far!

Got it fixed. turns out the electrical connector on the PCM just needed to be cleaned out. Easy fix. Folks at Dynamite Diesel in Monroe, WA told me all about it over the phone for no cost. Thanks for the responses.
