RobG, I took delivery of a 2001. 5 HO 6spd on 8/8. I had a 99 auto and sold it to order the new truck. I've only had it for a week, but my impressions of the new truck are very good. The brakes (4 wheel discs) are much improved and this truck drives straight. I have been over the truck very well and have not identified any problems. The truck is solid, rides and drives better than the 99 I had. The power is good and the transmission shifts solid. I personnally don't see a need for 4. 10's and wouldn't want them. The fit and finish is good and the interior is very nice and comfortable. I like the dual power/heated seats although I have not had to use the heater part yet. I have only driven it about 200 miles and have no milage figures although the computer says I have averaged 16 mpg. This is all running around town and back and forth to work. I have also had a heavy foot listening to the turbo music with the 6 spd.

I think it is the luck of the draw when it comes to getting a truck that does not wander. My 99 did wander slightly and it would drive me nuts on a long trip. I'm glad I sold my 99 auto and purchased the HO 6spd. The other model upgrades (4 wheel discs, seats, tow mirrors, wheels) are iceing on the cake.

Well finally, #ad
after all this time, MY TRUCK WILL BE BUILT TOMORROW!!!!
I spoke to my dealer today and we had the Dodge Sales Distribution folks on the line. It seems my truck was in a "hold" status because of a 6-speed shortage (Yeh, right... . I was told that back in April when I ordered it) #ad

My dealer told them how long I had been waiting and that he was totally disgusted with their support and lack of concern for the customer. Next thing we knew, the guy in Auburn Hills called back and told my dealer that the truck will be on the line and built in the morning. #ad
We'll see.

Here's an update and a long winded story about an order -- gone bad!

As many of you who have followed this thread know, I ordered my truck back on 7/7. Originally, it had a build date of the second week of August and then to my happy surprise it got moved up! Suddenly the estimated shipping date was changed to 7/31. Sure enough the truck was built on 7/29 and completed on 7/31. Unfortunately the truck then went to JS status. (shipped to storage).

After patiently waiting a few days, I checked back and was informed that it was still in JS status. Another couple of days went by and I checked again -- "No change!"

SO, I called my slaesman and asked him to check on it. His reply (later that day) was that the truck had been selected for the "extra quality check. " He said it should be done in a day or two and then be on it's way. After waiting a couple of more days -- I checked again -- and again there was no change in the status.

The saleman checked again on his own and was told that the truck was having a retrofit or repair done, but they would not release any info to him on what that entailed. Being a curious guy, I called the 800 number again and was told the same thing -- AND that they would only be doing these on the weekend so it wouldn't happen until that Saturday. I believe that was on 8/12. When Monday rolled around, the salesman called and said that there had been no change and that he could get NO info out of the help line.

Yesterday, I received a call back from a gentleman who promised to find out more. He sincerely tried I believe, but stated that he was only told that the truck was having a retrofit or repair done.

Today I called again and was told that the only reason it's still in JS is because it is waiting to have an extra quality check done -- AND they apparently only do those on Saturday also, so it may be awhile before that is completed and the truck gets shipped.

On that note -- call me Mr. Untrusting and Frustrated. It's obvious that the help line folks:

A. Don't have access to the info they need.
B. Are telling me whatever they think I want to hear.
C. Are clueless.
D. Don't care.

Take your pick, but in the meantime, I am NOT going to take delivery of this truck when (and if) it comes in -- unless I get a written statement regarding what was done. I have half a mind to go buy one I know is on the lot with the same stuff I ordered (minus the power seat).

Thanks Dodge!

Gary, Congratulations! Glad to see your gettin' a new one.

Rob,

Sorry to hear about your "mythical truck", Hope mine doesn't end up in the JS black hole.

How long does it NORMALLY take to go from built to Shipped? Anyone have a normal order? #ad

According to my dealer, mine moved up the line today.

Mick2500

Welcome to the "your an idiot for trying to get information club" Rob.

Mine was in I status for 13 days, for everything that they could think of to tell me.
I had recorded every call to everyone for just this reason.

I got quite upset with the last set of stories and demanded to speak to a manager of the 800 line, of course noone would transfer the call.

I started to call every hour and ask the samething and the Manager finally broke in to tell me he was going to notify DC Security of the harassing calls.

I told him he would have a great time explaining my recordings. Then he got REAL MAD that I had recorded at least 15 different stories and tales of "I" status along with his rantings and threat.
He said he would straighten it out and call me back.

That was last Thrusday afternoon no calls yet. His name is Mitchell and his DIRECT TELEPHONE line is 248-944-7003. If you want a real laugh call him the "manager".

I finally started a speed dialer calling 100 numbers around the zone office telephone number to avoid the usless menu maze. 301-464-4050.

I found a dead line not connected to the endless maze of menus and asked for the Zone Customer Service Manager. Put right through to her Roxie Thomas. Roxie called the ST Louis plant manager Ron Perk Fri 8/11/00. Ron told her he would personally go out and inspect the truck and call her right back.

That statement was all I needed to convince her because by Tues 8/15 she had not been called back. What ever she did on 8/16 I had a truck in KZ stauts being loaded on a freight car. Different VIN number?

She also got me a rental truck to drive until the new truck is delivered.

Get the ZONE customer relations manager involved, seems that they have the power to get things done and will tell you the truth no matter what it is. Then let you decide what you would like to do.
bought 4/28
shop 5/11-5/20
agreed to repurchase 6/2
ordered 7/7
built 8/3 J status changed to I status later that day
8/3 to 8/11 everything in the world to get me off the phone
Zone Customer Relations manager contacted 8/11

This is the 3rd thats right THREE Dodge Cummins Diesel that they have had to replace because of faulty workmanship under Marylands Lemon Law. My patience was worn out on this one.

I have only been waiting 7 YEARS to get a truck out of the factory that does not have a grocery list of defects.

The new group of 800 people are courteous to flat out rude and the worst that I have had to try to get help.

Rob and anyone else that gets caught in the assembled not OKD status black hole. Save the time and aggrevation of the "stories" and go direct to the Zone Customer Relations manager with these unexpected delays (more than 2 working days) at the plant after a truck is assembled. They have the authority to get things rolling and will treat you like a valued customer instead of a PIA.

Keep your chin up, because when they step on their own dicks they have a tendency to give you more for your money to ease their pain, one way or the other. #ad

I wonder if Roxie Thomas would be interested in learning about some of the 800 # experiences listed on this board that some of the rest of us have had?
This aparently is not just one customers isolated experience.

8AM CST Roselake, IL and heading east, not too much longer now. #ad
The people at CSX tell you within a minute exactly where the railcar is located.

Rob they can change the entire truck at the assembly Plant,(swap\change Vin tags) Get Frit's vechicle checkover forms and take a close look at the truck they send for your order. It may be a real pleasant suprise.

Does anybody know if order status codes "go backwards" sometimes? My situation is:
7/31 placed order
8/12 told by dealer I was "C"
8/17 informed by dealer that the stereo I ordered was no longer available and I needed to make another choice, (I did immediatly and let Him know), he said they would not build until this was resolved, he said I would probably go "D" in a couple of days.
8/21 Called D. C. 800# for status... disappointed to hear "BG" status.
Do codes actually go backwards like that or was the dealer giving Me a line of "Male Bovine Fecal Matter" all along? #ad

Well,

After reading Harvie's rant, I called the DC folks today. My truck is BUILT!!! #ad
But, it is sitting in the parking lot at the St Louis North plant awaiting QC. #ad
and this QC only happens on the Weekends. #ad

So far my salesmen have done a pretty good job of keeping me informed. Now even THEY are getting a little sick of this runaround. #ad

Glad to know there is other information available. All I hear is D1 from the salesman. The zone rep. was in today and my salesman asked him for help. I suspect it will show up at the dealer prior to getting an answer.

D-listed in Louisiana.

EXCLUDE THE UNFORTUNATE SOULS WHO'S RIGS ARE D1... OR WORSE, PARKED AWAITING QC...

IS ANYONE WITH A RECENT ORDER BEING TOLD THAT DEE's are on restriction? My order is weeks old and this is what both my dealer and DC have stated. Unfortunately, I have not gotten my VON/VIN from my dealer yet to make sure the aforementioned is applicable to my order specifically.

Pace, Pace, Pace, Pace...

Mad Max,

I was told the reason my 2500 ETH/DEE was being held in "D" status because of a 6-speed shortage. We raised a little ruckus with the Sales Distribution folks in Auburn Hills and guess what... . they found a transmission. #ad

Mick2500

Willy...

You in for a new rig too?

I went w/ the "bright Silver metalic" on my 2500 QC SWB 4x2 Sport, hold the ETC, add the ETH and throw in an extra forward gear please. =)

I ordered the HO 6 speed July 17, got vin on the 26th, KC status on 8-17. It is a sport truck 3500,Torch Red(I think thats what they call it now), supposed to arrive St. Louis the 24th, then truck to Cape Gir for delivery on 28th. It has moved through much quicker than I thought, after the salesman said 10 to 12 weeks. I have kept up with progress by way of the 800 number, where the people answering have been very helpful, almost to an unbelieveable level. Randy E

It seems like I'll be picking up the big guy on the 29th, that is Tuesday. Hope all is well. From what I have been reading here on TDR, I'm a littel worried about how DC has been putting these trucks together. Any way wish me luck guys.
