Last night as I was driving down to the auto parts store, I passed by the back lot of a Dodge dealer and spotted 4 new 2500's in a new color. I figured since they were in a new color, then maybe these were 2002 trucks that had just arrived,so I stopped by to check them out on my way back from the parts store.

I looked at the window stick to see the new color was called Atlantic Blue Metallic... it's that same medium blue that was previously used on the Jeep CJ's. I remember a couple of years back thinking this color would look awesome on a Ram,and it does! The thing that really threw me for a loop was that these trucks weren't 2002's... the window stickers all said 2001's.

Why would DC add a new color this late in the 2001 model year especially when you can't even order one?

On my way home from work this morning,a car hauler passed me and it was carrying two new Durangos in the same Atlantic color. It looked okay, but was definitely alot nicer on the 2500's.

Possiblly a fleet order???

Sometimes a fleet color will be different, but I think you need to order something like 50 or 100 trucks at once to get a special color. They wouldn't all need to be delivered to the same dealer though.

It has to be a bunch of trucks, Les Schwab wasn't ordering enough at once to get a LS blue. My dealer is the Dodge dealer closest to LS HQ's, where they outfit many (if not all) of the store trucks.

Just a thought, but maybe there is a new standrd color too.

I was at the dealer this morning and they had 1 Atlantic Blue 1500 waited to be picked up by a customer. I had SLT trim. real pretty truck.

No they weren't for a fleet order... just normal stock. Last week as I passed the train yard where the trucks get delivered,I could also have sworn I saw a new charcoal grey type color on another 2500.

DC is going to have to do something to keep us motivated to buy 2500/3500 before the 2003 changeover. I just wish they would offer another cloth interior color/style, as well. I've never seen a mfg. stick with one offering for so many model years:(

I called Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, ID and asked about the new colors... . Atlantic Blue, LT Almond Pearl Metallic, etc. and the rep there said those were 2002 colors, but a few late 2001's had been painted with the new colors. Who knows, but I sure do like the new colors... . :D
