Yeah, problem is when you are bite by bombing bugs is no way out. First I add EZ and K & N and I set myself, that is all I need. Now I upgraded trans. and I em already looking for answer on this board which injectors to put on , 275 or DD I or DD II for mostly towing. Next maybe 4 " exhaust and who know what. But for sure is the fun and we only live once.

is that propane i smell, or is that nitrous?

never ever stops

"Gary you might look again at edge. The EZ does fuel, they just say it stays within the power train limits for towing "

HMMmm - I was sure the EZ did NOT require invasion of the fueling for proper operation - HMMmmm:confused:

In particular, not needing any direct attachment to the injector pump via the injector pump wiring - perhaps they use some alternate method to adjust fueling that avoids the wiring?

Until the lift pump situation is better under control, I really don't want to antagonize that potential problem, and I dislike butchering wiring harness if I can avoid it... :(

Gary-

The EZ does add additional fueling, but it does so without hooking to the injection pump wire. It plugs into the data link connector of the computer to adjust the fueling curve. Since you are working through the computer, you are limited with respect to how much you can add. That's why the Comp (and other "major" boxes) hook to the injector pump wire.

The EZ is an "EZ" install, just plugs into the MAP sensor and data link. No butchering required... . :D

NO wiring required

Gary, the Edge EZ is a plug in and play box. There is a data port that the EZ is plugged into, just unplug the dummy plug that the factory puts in to keep the connections clean, and plug in the matching EZ connector. then unplug the MAP sensor, and put the 'Y' connector from the EZ in between the sensor and the wire connector. Again the EZ connectors are a match for the Dodge/Cummins connectors.

Then depending on the type of turbo you have, you have to replace the boost elbow to raise the pressure that the wastgate opens or clamp down the wastegate with a turnbuckle.

The end result is a cooler running smoother and more powerful truck.

If you buy a Comp box the above connections are identical, the comp box mounts inside the cab, instead of in the engine compartment. The Comp also gives more adjustability to the power settings. [with buttons instead of jumpers]

There is an additional wire with the comp used to tap into the VP44. This is the connection that the dealer looks for in order to void any warrantee claims by the truck owner. It also is where the extra 60+ hp comes from.

Both the EZ and the comp do add fuel, but they do it through the data port connection and within the factory [ECM?] fueling parameters. This limits the max fueling and timing to the approx. 60 HP that the EZ will provide. You need to tap the Vp44 wire to get above this limit. Or add bigger injectors.

You can search on 'turnbuckle' to see some good photos, and 'EZ install' for additional info.

Sorry if I appear dense - I just want to be absolutely sure that if I go ahead with the COMP, that connected the way I plan, I get at LEAST the same maximum power level I would with the EZ connected the same way... I'm still waiting for a reply from Edge - but direct info from actual users is LOTS more preferable to me...

SOOoo - other comments relative to the Comp and EZ have indicated that the Comp, when NOT using the wire connect to the injector pump - not the data connection, but the one that taps directly into the pump wire - will then deliver essentially the SAME performance gains the EZ does - it just avoids the additional stress (AND additional available power) upon the injector pump that last direct connect would create... Greg's comment also seems to support that assumption:

"There is an additional wire with the comp used to tap into the VP44. This is the connection that the dealer looks for in order to void any warrantee claims by the truck owner. It also is where the extra 60+ hp comes from.

If I have properly interpreted this, and the Comp WILL provide essentially all the power gains the EZ will *without* attaching the VP44 wire, and hopefully even connected that way, still allow different levels of power setting. THAT is exactly what *I* am looking for! That will probably give me all the additionl power I want - but will still leave me the option for MORE if my greed or needs change... ;) :D

And unless there was some need to physically install the control head for the Comp inside the passenger compartment, I'd probably simply set it at the level I want, carefully wrap it, and tuck it somewhere outta the way inside the engine compartment...

Yeah - some will say "why not simply hook it ALL up, and only use the lower settings... ?"

NAHHhhh - I know human nature - MINE as well as others;) :p - and would undoubtedly be overcome with poor judgement when the chips were down, and give in to the temptation to "go for broke" to stay ahead of that Ford behind me... :p ;) :D

I have the ttpm from DD and love it. :D I went with them because I will eventually add DD1's and I dont want to smoke to much when i do. They call it there stage one pro kit(ttpm,DD1's and K&N filter). Anyway, im very happy with the product and service. I seem to have all kinds of power and the truck really comes up right on the shifts. Never thought I would modify my truck but now I really enjoy the power. Im not going to get to crazy with bombing yet, but when you drive a bombed truck, its like driving a 4 ton corvette. These engines are truly amazing. I never downshift for hills unless im going to fast. So far there has not been a hill to slow me down below 65... . (towing 3500 pound boat and trailer)... Get off the fence and do it you wont regret it:D :D :D
