I have a friend w/ 2000 24-valve. It will be getting a torque converter and a chip soon. He is planning on a comp box or a pm3 competition box. He has 90k on his truck. Does he need to make any mods to VP-44 to avoid failure w/ this chip? Does he need to buy a lift pump or a pusher pump? Will a chip cause a vp-44 go bad? All replies are appreciated!

Ditto on what Dl5treez said.

Does your friend regularly use a diesel additives for the lubrication quality. I ask this as I still have my original VP and I just upgraded my LP at 103,000 turns. It was still strong but I decided to replace it before giving it a chance to bite me;)

I would also relocate the OEM LP to the frame rail by the fuel tank with large ID fuel lines. Can be done for under $60. We have a couple members here in CO with Stage 3 injectors, and either a Comp or FMS. Neither WOT drops under 10 after the move to the frame rail and 1/2 fuel lines.
