Just dropped by the Dodge dealer to ask about required tune-up/maintenance, and the service guy showed me a print-out of the 24K maintenance schedule. Included on this were "valve adjustment," "injection pump adjustment," and "front bearing packing. " There were a dozen or more other simple items mentioned, but the cost for the service..... almost $1,000
I've read nothing about valve adjustments in my maintenance manual (CD) -- or for that matter injection pump adjustment or wheel bearing packing.
I don't remember where I heard, but it is my understanding that the valves automatically adjust and the bearings are 'sealed' and permanently lubed. I've not seen anything in the manual about adjusting the injection pump, either.
Is this stuff all on the level? If so, how hard is it to perform this stuff yourself? I've done all the other recommended maint. myself and am pretty handy with tools.
Any help/suggestions/links would be appreciated
