Hello All,

I have read some of big pappas post and some of dieseldemons on this subject. DD your a bit more technical than I am I might need it dumbed down a bit till im up to speed. I have an 01 manual that I blew up and I found a 1994 auto dumptruck with 74,000 and got the whole thing for 1500 after seeing the motor run. I am putting the 12v in my 01 and have most things sorted out. I figure I will lose my cruise (no big deal). I have the cam gears pulled right now to switch out along with the sensor. My question is the oil water intake temp and map sensors id like the oil and water to work stock. Will I have other check engine lights etc. to deal with I know about the shutoff solenoid just have to figure out details and the a/c should be no big deal. Do I need to worry about the alternator at all I figure just mounting the 2001 back in although the 94 looks to be in better shape. Just for info the 24v had 410 thousand miles of being rode hard and put away wet, love this truck it has taken a ton of abuse over the years and has always been there for me. Absolute favorite vehicle I have owned.

All you'll need to do is put your '01 sensors in the 12V engine. You basically need to make the '01 truck "think" it has the 24V engine in it.

You will have CEL's. No way around it unless you have a working VP44.

Cruise should be no problem as long as it's the vacuum type. Mine works fine. Seems like I had to use the 12V cable.

My 94 donor did not have cruise so I might have to look into that later.

1. oil pressure switch should be no big deal thinking of a 45 degree fitting with adapters yada yada that should be done
2 ect I should be able to relocate on the passenger side a little lower on the head there is a bung - adapter and done
3 do I need to worry about intake air temp sensor it is also an easy adapter
4 Map I assume I do not need and will probably get a code from is there a way to maybe fool it with a resistor etc.
5 Is there a crankshaft position sensor on my 01 it was in a haynes manual but I dont see it.
6 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR What a pia. I have the cam gear and tone ring from the 01 the only problem is the sensor itself does not fit easily on the back of the 94 timing cover and making an adapter while fun ( 6 hours in the machine shop) my project manager will be wondering wtf I'm doing all night. Can I steal the timing cover off the 01 ( will the p-pump bolt on to the back of the timing cover ?? any other known issues?? this would be the simplest and no fussing with clearances Clarence.

Big pappa I do have a working vp 44 sitting right here what were you thinking. Although I was ready to just slam this thing in the truck and run which I would have had done today but everytime I look on here my expectations keep rising. Maybe I should leave lol .

When I'm done all of this the 24v block will be up with whatever it has left and everything in the 94 that I don't use is up for grabs
94 3500 auto single cab dump truck

I put my oil pressure sensor in the 1/8" pipe hole in the top of the oil filter head. ECT you just need an adapter. You'll need the IAT sensor for the heater grids. I woouldn't worry with the MAP sensor, as I said you're going to have to pull the CEL bulb or look at it all the time anyway.

For the cam sensor get one of these:

PDP isn't the only one available, just the first one to come up in a Google search.

I was just joking about the VP, without it you will get at least two codes at all times.

Thank you, now that I see it I can probably make that in the shop pretty quick on the mill. The threads for the 01 sensors are all metric? Does anybody know the sizes off hand I don't have a ton of metric taps or a metric thread gauge.

The 24V cam sensor bolts are M6 X 1.00 X 16. The timing pin housing bolts on the 12V are M5 X 0.80 X 17.
