Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 3 Cyl idle reflash- How to tell?

This weekend I am going to have the dealer do the 3 cylinder idle reflash for warming- up puposes. I have read and heard much discussion on this topic and am wondering, "how will I know if it has been done. " Will there be a different sound coming from the CTD? Will it warm up significantly sooner? Other? TIA. -frank

the high idle feature consists of 2 separate features, the first occurs when the ambient temp is less than 32 deg. F and more than i believe 5 deg. and coolant temp is below 140 deg. when this is met the engine will idle up to 1200 rpm. the second part of this feature occurs when the temp is below 5 deg. and the coolant is below 140 deg. this will enable the 3 cylinder shutdown. It will be a very noticeable change in the engine sound. many members are frightened by the noise the first time this feature enables.
