Hello To All, I'm A New Member.

1. My 95 Has A Coolant Leak Under The T-stat Housing, I Have Replaced The Seals For The Housing And There Is Still A Leak, Any Ideas?

2. I Have A Nice Oil Leak In The Front Of The Engine. I Have Replaced The Front Crank Seal, Front Cover Gasket And The Vacum Pump Gasket, Any Ideas Of Next Step On Where To Look?

3. I'm Currently Running A Tst #5, 5 In. Straight Pipe, Banks Twin Ram Intake And A K & N Cold Air Intake. the Truck Is A 5sp Center Force Dual Friction Clutch. My Egts Rise Quickley If You Are Standing On The Throttle, Any Ideas On A Way To Make It Cool Quicker? The Truck Is Kinda A Slug Off The Line Any Ideas To Make A Quicker Launch? Change The Turbo Housing To A 14 Cm Wastegated?

Would Dvs Give You Any More Horses? What Would Be The Next Step For Power? I Would Like To Reach Around 750-800 Ftlbs Tor.

Thanks For Any Help!

Well I can't help you on the other stuff but the one thing I can help you on is on the oil leak. Look at you Valve cover gaskets! those are cheep and easy to fix! What side is the oil leaking from driverside of passenger side. My truck is running up around the 750 ft-lb mark right now.

First of all welcome to TDR!

Assuming the thermostat is not leaking it could be the radiator hose. Try replacing the spring clamp with a worm drive clamp to be sure. If that's not leaking then it's nearly a sure bet that it's your head gasket as this is the most common spot they leak.

Assuming none of the replaced gaskets/seals are leaking, it could be leaking between the block and gear housing. If you didn't tighten the bolts in the gear housing when you had the cover off, you should have. There are 5 housing bolts in there if I remember right and they are nearly always loose. The spec on these bolts is 18 ft lbs. Three of them are hiding behind the cam gear and require turning the engine to access them through the gear holes. The lower one can only be reached by bending a 10mm wrench. Those that you can get at easy should be taken out, cleaned (including the holes) with brake clean and reinstalled with loctite (I use blue) after blowing dry.

Also check your pan gasket bolts (18 ft lbs). Clean everything up real well and then keep an eye on it.

Are you familiar with the KDP? If not, do a search on here and or Google for "killer dowel pin" and "KDP". This is another thing that should have been taken care of while the cover was off. If it was not done you really need to get back in there and make sure it's taken care of.

Depending how high your EGTs go you may need a larger turbo.

I would recommend you get rid of the K&N filter. They really don't filter all that well. Many will defend them and probably even more will say to dump it. I personally ran one for a while and when I did an oil analysis it came back with a very high silicon number, which means dirt was getting past. I now run an Amsoil filter, which uses Donaldson's synthetic nanofiber media. This filter is keeping my silicon numbers down while still flowing well. It's also a dry cleanable filter. See my mods page below for pictures and info.

I Did Install A Kdp Tab When I Resealed The Front Case Cover. It Looks Like The Oil Comes From The Front Of The Engine On The Drives Side. It Runs Down The Timing Case Then Down The Small Face Of The Block Under The Timing Case. Would It Be Worth The Time To Try Tighten The Bolt In The Cover Or Just Suck It Up And Pull It Down And Replace The Gasket?

That's good you got the KDP. Really all you can do if unsure where its coming from is clean it up good and then check it real often and see if you can see where its coming from before it spreads. If it is coming from between the block and gear housing you would have to pull the cover and tighten the bolts inside. I had trouble with mine and it took me some time before I figured out where it was coming from. Once I got in there and tightened them all up I had no more leak. I didn't need to replace the housing to block gasket.

Ditto on the filter, I'd lose the K&N. I had a cone K&N filter on my '01 once and it did a poor job of filtering. Cummins says not to run them.

When your truck is a dog off the line does it smoke much? If it does maybe you're dumping too much fuel and drowning the fire. . . try tightening your AFC adjustment (adjust wheel toward back of engine). It sounds like you could use a turbo upgrade, I would consider a hybrid (HX40 compressor put on the stock turbo, then the next step is to put the 14cm wastegated on the hybrid).

Hx35 Turbo Parts

I Have Heard You Can Put A Better Turbine On The Stock Hx35 Turbo, Where Would You Find A Turbine? Where Can You Find A Hx 40 Housing? I Work For A Cummins Auth. Dealer And Cummins Shop And Parts Warehouse Are Across The Street. I have acess to quickserve as well if the parts can be gotten from cummins.
