Need advice from military retiree's

Ahh, ok. Yeah, I love the . 284. I got turned onto it back in '94, looking for something that was short enough to work in a mauser action I had, but that wasn't so long, so I could seat the bullet out and use heavy bullets. I took one look at the specs, and said,"Bingo!!" Dad had a sporter built for me, as I was just a kid, and I still have it... . albiet the throat has "grown" around . 200!! I loved the dang thing, as I was using 168gr bullets at @ 3000fps... .

Now we use Lapua 6. 5x284 brass and neck 'em up after weighing for our match rifles... . I've been trying to talk Lapua or Norma into making straight . 284 brass, but they just don't see the market, yet... . maybe next year!!

My current match rifle is a Surgeon single shot action with a Broughton barrel, and a . 315 neck... . just enough I don't have to turn much brass. I just got some 189 Cerrano? Group Tightener bullets out of Cali, but no time to test, yet. Otherwise, I've been using the 180 Bergers or JLKs, running around 2900 with 4831 or 7828... . I can't remember the charges at the moment... . I think it's 54gr of the H4831... . it's in my notes in the reloading room... . and I'm not walking out there tonight... .
