Stock Dodge 35.jpg

I'm looking for feedback on running 35x12.50R20 tires (or 315/60R20) on stock 20" Dodge OEM wheels with a Carli 2.5" leveling kit. I believe the Toyo R/T's will clear without rubbing?? What's the difference between 35x12.50's and 315/60R20's?

Does anyone have experience with the Toyo R/T's? I've always ran the Toyo M/T's and loved them, but I'm looking at the R/T's for my '16.

If you have a truck with a leveling kit, stock wheels, and 35" tires please post some photos. I believe it will look similar to the truck above, but I would like to see more photos.

2013 Ram 2500 4x4 with OEM 2” leveling kit. Aftermarket 20” rims with Toyo open country a/t2 35x12.5x20. Have rubbing when wheels turned all the way left or right. But love the way the truck looks.

Wheel offset will determine tire rub not lift height, there are some great write ups out there about it. With stock wheels you will likely rub the radius arm and sway bar at full lock. Also remember you have radius arm truck which fits tires a little differently then the 4 link trucks so what works on one may not on the other.

I was looking at the RTs and decided to go with the Ridge Grapplers instead just due to better feedback overall but Toyo does make some great tires and I had the Toyo MTs before the Ridge Grapplers.

They get a premium for those 20's.
Seems like the reduced sidewalls and rubber over a 17'18" would command a cheaper price.

Yes they are expensive. I'm paying $800 for a new set of stock 20" wheels, but that price includes a new gloss black powder coat. The existing stock satin/matte powder coat on them doesn't look as good IMO, so I'm getting gloss put on them. I've been running black wheels on my trucks for 20yrs now and nothing looks better than gloss black when they are clean. The satin finish just always looks like it has a layer of brake dust on them. I'm going to be putting the new black wheels on my '16 soon, just wish I had the black bumpers and grill to match. Who wants to trade??? :) I will pay for the trade :)

Can you post some photos of your grapplers installed? I'm going to try out the R/Ts this time, hopefully I'm not bummed after running the M/Ts for all these years.

I’m runnng Toto CT 35 12.5 18’s with Thuren front coils, same as Carli. Mine do rub on the arms at full lock.
The tire rub is easy to fix. On the steering knuckle if you drill and tap the steering stop where it hits for a 1/4-20 bolt 1/2" long. Install the bolt all you need is the thickness of the head of the bolt to stop the rub. I did my knuckles on my 2013. You don't notice any loss of turning radius.

I like it! I see this in my near future.

My truck is a '10 with a KORE suspension and Carli control arms. I ran 35/12.50r17s Toyo MTs on the stock 17" alloy wheels and had rubbing on the stock control arms. Not too bad but annoying. I like the looks of these black 20" wheels and have recently put these 295/65r20s ATs on them. This is essentially a 35/11.50r20 tire. Now in my case, since the offset on these wheels is 11.5mm more positive than my original stock 17s, I still have a little rubbing on the control arms. You have a radius arm system so things my fit a little differently. I would have gone with a 35/12.50r20 except that they are generally available in the 121 load rating. These tires are 129 load rating. I'm glad I went with the narrower tire though. Otherwise the rubbing would be far worse; even with the Carli control arms.

To answer your question about the difference between the two tires, the 315/60r20 comes with a heavier load rating (125Q vs 121Q) unless you buy the Load Range F tire available. The size difference is negligible as illustrated above in an earlier post.

I finally got my truck done. Here's the details and photos for future reference in case anyone else is looking for the same information I was:

Year: 2016
Lift: Carli 2.5" leveling kit with track bar
Wheels: Factory 20" wheels
Tires: 315/60R20 Toyo RTs

There is no rubbing at full lock and the tires do not stick out beyond the fender flares. These tires are quiet and smooth (I've always run the Toyo MTs)
The front bumper was raised 5 1/4", and the badge near the front wheel well was raised 3". I'm sure it will settle a bit. The truck rides very nice. I can't stand the chrome so I'm going to black it next week and I'll be done. I'll be getting rid of my brand new headlights, tail lights, and factory 18" wheels/tires in case anyone is interested. This truck only has 5K miles on it at the moment because I prefer driving the old '01.

Maybe I’m wrong, but in the pic that shows the coil and shock there’s an arc shape on the radius arm rubbed thru the dust/dirt to clean paint. Could be coincidence, maybe your hand rubbed that shape onto it, but that’s the same place that mine rubs.
