I could not get my two tool boxes and generator in with 3600 hitch and I didn't like where they put the trailer plug. It does rest on the bed but I don't think it will be a problem.

If I install the wiring, I guess I can put it where I want it! Snoking

That's what I did. I put right above my rear tool box so I could plug the trailer in from the rear of the truck.

I think I have decided on the B&W RVK3270 manual slider and the Reese picture frame. I will rig the V-Box attached to slider with Nylon slides on the bottom of the box so it will slide out onto the tail gate. And then hope I can cobble the large Truck Trunk in ahead of the hitch. Snoking

To answer your original question, I do run the 3600 with the hitch in the back most position. I needed to do this to have enough room in front so the shock on the trailair doesn't hit the tri-fold cover. By doing this it took 60 lbs off of the front axle. I don't notice a difference pulling the fifth-wheel (Everest 345s 14,000 GW).

Could you give me a couple measurements?

Inside of the upper lip of the bed back to the closes point on the release handle both with it in the open and closed position. Picture of the hitch head in relation to the front pucks would be nice also. Thanks Snoking

So now I am looking at another hitch. Curt makes a puck adapter for the RAM factory 5th wheel setup.I found a very attractive price on the E16 sliding bar head with their R16 slider. So the the whole hitch is $857.

This setup is more compact than the B&W RVK3270 and handles go out drivers side and will not be a problem with bed box.

I have been in love with our Hijacker sliding bar hitch since 1997. So another sliding bar is attractive to me.

Current 5er is 12,400, and anything new we get would be around 14,500. Snoking

You won't get any love on here for buying a Chinese hitch. But I hear their economy needs a boost.

I stand corrected. I saw someone else a few months ago on a different thread say it was made in China . I had no proof.

See the link above the quote. I like curt better than b&w. But like unagoose the best

Inside of the upper lip to closest point on the release handle closed 30 3/4", open 20 1/8". The black edge in the pictures are the back of the tri-fold.

Thanks that is the kind of info I needed. Rules out the B&W hitch for what I wand to do with my existing boxes. Snoking

Here ia a Amazon review on a Curt 16545 Q24

Fit in the leg kit exact and installed easily in my 14 Ram 3500

Rated for 24k but the parts are much smaller in size compared to the Reese 18k hitch I had in last truck. Made in China really concerns me especially looking at the jaws and mounting to the hitch body. Fit in the leg kit exact and installed easily in my 14 Ram 3500.

I have a friend in SoCal that has a 09 Dually with the Curt and it says Made in China on it.

"If you look under "company information" on Curt Manufacturing's website you will see that they are importers as well as manufacturers. I saw with my own two eyes a sticker on a Q5 fifth wheel hitch that said "made in China". I am not the one purchasing one so if you doubt me, call Curt. Personally I could care less."

Topic: 5th wheel hitch made in China
Posted By: tkkopp on 10/14/12 12:44pm

We bought a new 5th wheel hitch arrived yesterday, we did not
know it was made in China.
It's a Curt 16K and feeling very uneasy, our 5th wheel is
12500 lbs. GVW, hitch weight is 2000 lbs.

Never thought to look to see where they were made. I would like
to get a hitch from USA. Should I just throw this one in the
trash and start over? What a waste of my money... Any suggestions?
