2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 3rd gen center seat in 2nd gen

today I just installed a 3rd gen seat(from a 2009) in my 02 ram. it does fit with some playing. after removing the stock center seat placing the 3rd gen in the seat bracket holes the rear two studs fit in fine and just had to drill two holes in the bottom of the seat frame to match up to the factory 2 nd gen bracket and used a nut and bolt combo . just fig incase anybody was wondering the 09 will fit im sure most other years may as well,it does not have the lower storage in the seat bottom,not sure if that will work or not, I plan to buy the metal lower vault from Diesel-max if they make them so i did not purchase the seat with lower storage cheaper also. But I like the upper console part better on the newer ones. Ps measure/mark twice drill once, and get the vacum ready you will be amazed at what is under that center seat.

Cool! I would want the one with the storage though. Did you buy the seat new? From a wrecked truck?

I found the seat on ebay,brand new I would also like the one with storage but they were more money,used and was not sure how this was going to turn out,I have to ask my brother if I can pull out his trucks seat he has storage in the lower ,just not sure it would work with the second gen brackets or not. well if I find out will post it,unless someone out there knows ?

Now with lower storage

I found another new console with lower storage and even the extra 12v power port in the upper part on ebay also from a 09 to 11 these on the lower console have a sold plastic tray unlike the 05 lowers which use the trucks floor/rug as a base did not know if it would work or not in the secons gens but this year does for sure same deal as befor rear studs line up and drill new holes in the lower frame of center console and bolt up a little more time consuming due to lower console tray has to be lifted up to get new bolts in but it will work.

Good job S Ski, great information. The center console on my '98 has a broken insert and lid latch jams so this makes a good excuse for changing it out. I am planning to gut the interior for sound deadening installation this winter so that would be a good time to do it along with running wiring for the 12v port.

Hey thanks I am doing the same now due to a Hail storm we had here in NY on monday I got a full new set of seat covers on ebay and am just waiting for a carpet from dogde and fig I would run all the stereo wires now primed the floors just to help fig it cant hurt . I like the new consoles much better then the orig 2nd gen stock one.

it used to look nice but will again soon I hope The hood has alot of these in it hard to see with the silver but the are every where so thinking a steel cowl hood is in the future in the next mounth or so.
