Doc,

I hear your pain. I took my Dodge when it was hard to start and the engine would shut off in a minute or two. I spoke to the service manager and told him I thought it was the transfer pump (lift pump) and he gave this insulted looks like I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

Anyway, after numerous calls to the Star hotline and 3 days later I got my truck back after they replaced the lift pump.

I believe "5 Star" designation means the dealer has to call the star hotline at LEAST five times to get an diagnosis. Warranty work from DC frankly sucks BIG time. The
dealer is Preston Dodge in Dallas, TX. I will never take the Dodge their ever again. The service manager is a real prick.

Be sure to tell the dealer that you fill out EVERY survey and you'll be sure fill this one out after you get the truck back.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take the cluster out of a new rig????????????????/
What if i come and want to buy that beast???
I know of a ford dealer that has a veh on ther lot waiting on a speedo cluster --mounth and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LET it be knowen they make these every day BUT top prioty is the production line>>>>>
Not us the owner.
Good luck. another though why do you think there is a market for stolen veh???parts supply!! Wait for the body style change of the ram and they will be high on the list!!Again!!

My wife's new Grand Caravan's air cond. compressor went TU at 1300 miles!! Took it into Coloseium Motors in Casper. Big Mistake!!! Had to wait a week for parts. She picked it up and I checked it when she got home. They didn't even change the belt!! You can see bits of rubber in the engine compart. and melted rubber thrown onto the radiator hose. Called the "service" manager, he asked "what makes us think the belt needs changing" and then " what makes us think it wasn't changed" . I had marked the belt.

Sincere question here (also directed towards timd), what language are you refering to? I have read his post 3 times now, and while it may not be the "best choice" of words I didn't see anything that is "beyond" the limits... . other then "hell" and "prick" Is that what your taking exception to? Like I said this is a sincere question... . <font size=-2>

First, Let Me Say, Hi Doc and Welcome to the TDR.

Now, Let Me say that San Joaquin Dodge Has Been My savior since my Last Blood PSI Explosion at HADDAD DODGE In Bakersfield.

San Joaquin Dodge Has Had Some "Growning Pains" Of Late due to one of the Owners had died, Causing the Then Silent partner to become the Main Guy, And he does not have the people skills with their Main Mechanic Named "Fred".

"Fred" is the Guy who you want to talk to.
He is Very Knowlegable and is the Head Mechanic there.

Also Check with Dave Mindren at the Parts Counter about your parts (Inst Cluster). He is the Parts Department Manager. There could be a Problem with the Distribution and or supply of the parts needed.

Oh, FYI, I think around 80% of San Joaquin's Business is Working on Cars and Trucks Bought From HADDAD Dodge.

Tell Both Fred and Dave, That Doug Said Hi!.

I Know the Old Service Manage "Dave" Left San Joaquin Dodge and went to Work For Super Bowl Quarter Back Trent Dilfer Dodge and Jeep in Porterville.

One other thing, If your truck is still in the shop By this Wednesday, Talk to Butch, He is like their General Manager.

On A other Note, Howdy Neighbor!. .

I Hope this Helps!
Doug.

Danelle's Dodge

Less of a headache than the stories I've read here but let me tell you mine.

Wilson Dodge, Jackson MS AARRGGHH!!!

Took my truck in for fuel filter change, I know, and this is why I learned to do it myself, dropped it off, and scheuled an alignment the next day at a body shop down the street.

Well I went to pick it up, signed off and was told the keys were in it!!??? #ad

Went to the body shop to drop it off and relized the keys weren't mine and no tool box key! Calle dmy wife who was to pick me up and told her to stop by and pick up my keys, simple mistake right. Well she got there, was told I didn't drop off any keys, they had to make one. Now to really appreciate this you need to know my wife. She's great but don't cop an attitude with her or it will be a long day, night, week, what ever. Wifey pointed to my keys laying on the her desk upon which the "blonde cashier" picks'em up throws them in a drawer and says they were for the courtesy van. Apparently they have the van but no courtesy! Wifey was told she was wrong so she left.

By this time I've been waiting and my water is getting hot. She picks me up and we go back to WILSON DODGE, JACKSON MS, to figure this out.

The "blonde" behind the service desk has about three people waiting and my lovely wife points to the nice service guy who helped her before. He states the cashier said no keys were provided and they had to make one. Knowing this was wrong we went back to the "blonde cashier" to enlighten her. Upon which I pointed to my keys that somehow made it back out of the drawer, and said those are mine.

"Oh, ok here yopu go, sorry for the confusion. " said the "blonde cashier"

I immediately offered to her that "her appology should be directed to my wife and that she should return to flipping burgers at the local BK. "

I may have been a little hot but if they'd get it right I would've been fine.

These dealers seem to have forgotten that teh customer isn't always right, but he is always the customer!!!

Whew, I feel better now. 5 star = 5th graders

Doc-

I feel your pain. I went through a similar ordeal a couple of months ago, but with my transmission. After the dealer accused me of BOMBing and wanted to void my warranty, it took 10 days of screaming at the service dept just to get myself put into a Geo Metro! It took 19 days total to get my truck back after they unsuccessfully tried to fix the bad transmission, and had to replace the whole thing. It was the biggest nightmare of my life, being laughed at and nearly driven over several times in the Geo.

I think it's sad that we buy nearly $40K trucks from these people, and then get treated like dirt when we dare to take their faulty product back to them for repairs. I'm a big fan of good customer service, and have since told the dealer that the Dakota that my fiance wanted has since become a Toyota, and that they will never see me on their lot again. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but I have to admit that once you get your toy back and drive it for a day or two that you kind of forget the mess and the smile comes back.
