I am having a hard time beliving the upper teens reports. best I have ever got was 14. it is always at 11. 5 around town. if someone around socal with one of these trucks wants to trade for a week that is about the only way I will believe it.

What was your mpg before the lift and tires? Just curious cause I am leaning this route when my new 6. 7 is delivered next tuesday:D

Trust me, the stock tires will give you optimum mileage. Swinging the big meat hurts you two ways. One, you are turning more mass, and two, you have more rolling resistance.

I've been there and done that. Depending on how you drive figure one to two MPG loss in fuel economy.

1st Impressions

I just got a 2008. I have nothing but great things to say about this truck. The new baby is a 2500 quad 4x4 short bed SLT, 6spd auto. silver in color. I have a large amount of miles..... 400 about. :-laf on the truck so far. out of the box i am getting 15. 2 mpg 50/50 hard and soft starts and 50/50 highway and town. Drove 200 miles this weekend and averaged 75mph with several 100mph bursts, figured i would stretch her legs a bit. But really, hand and computer calc to 15. 2mpg and rising. Like I said before, this is a VERY nice truck and I am glad to have the upgrade from past trucks. several paople in the area are reporting low twenties once the engine is broken in and my neighbor is getting 16. 7mpg towing a 10000lb flatbed around and his truck has just under 11000 miles on it, about the same truck I have now.

milage has not changed a bit, same as with the stock tires and no lift. 11-12 around town and 14-15 hwy. empty. just pulling my boat it goes down to 11 hwy. I am seeing a trend on the 08's as far as better milage but not where it should be.

That's great to hear, I hope the newer 08s will be setting this trend. I go to pick mine up tomorrow! Oo. Oo.

Mileage

My first tankful was 17. 3 calculated. The overhead showed 18. 8.

70% interstate (60 mph)

30% mix of twisting & hilly highway/city/town

Plus I was running it hard at times & changing engine speed a lot for breakin.

900 miles on engine

I just returned from our first trailer trip. The 2008 truck now has just over 5000 miles.

Average mileage to date - empty: 17. 5 mpg

That's driving like your grandmother. Diesel is too expensive to drive like I stole it.

Average mileage towing 9800 pound Airstream from Indiana to coastal Maryland and back, over the Appalachians: 11. 5 mpg

Again, I didn't push it, but did average 55 mph for the entire trip.

It's not as good as I would have liked, but it's quite acceptable considering the performance of this engine. My 2000 truck got about 1 mpg better than this, but the new truck isn't totally broken in yet and doesn't have any performance modifications. (I'm waiting for the Smarty JR for the 6. 7. )
