I took out the #10 plate I had, and installed the #6 plate I just got. I think the truck has a little bit better power, but I still don't think it's giving me what it should.

Boost and EGT gauges installed.

New fuel filter. Air filter recently cleaned.

Intend on replacing the strainer on the fuel heater but haven't done that yet.

Truck currently has 1/2 B100 Biodiesel and 1/2 #2 Diesel. But I've been running it like that for a while. Only difference between this and all #2 is the lovely smell the B100 gives.

Climbing a fairly steep grade on i80 crossing over to the Sacramento Valley, on cruise control at 75mph the truck is climbing better than if I put my foot down. Hmmm. EGT climbs up to 1100 degrees, and Boost is just under 20lbs. That sound right for an empty 4x4 truck? What is expected range for boost? On the freeway at 55-60mph EGT is around 600 degrees, and boost something like 4 -5 pounds.

No smoke under heavy acceleration. Star wheel moved forward about three turns from stock.

Throttle cable seems kind loose to me. Also, at the throttle pedal, if I lift up on the pedal this generates about 1 1/2" of cable play at the pedal. Reason I'm thinking about this is that the truck seems to accelerate better with cruise control than my foot. I know these cables had a recall, and this particular truck did have that cable replaced, but that's been several years.

Have built a boost pressure tester but haven't used it yet.

This is my first 12v Dodge and I really don't have a benchmark of what the stock power should be and what a #6 plate feels like. With the #6 plate my Dakota with 4. 7 liter V-8 would run circles around it. Heck I think my wife's Honda Element would run circles around it.

I appreciate any feedback.

UPDATE.

Reminder to self. Check the simple stuff first. If you think you've checked the simple stuff, do it again.

The Cable. I took a metal parts brush cut it off at about 1 1/2 inches, opened it up, wrapped it around all that extra cable at the pedal, squeezed it mostly shut.

Started up the truck and it seemed to rev better. Hmmmm.

Drove it down the street, and it seemed to accelerate better.

Took up some residential streets with some pretty good hills and it fairly leaped up the hills. And for the first time under heavy acceleration there was a small puff of smoke. That's the first time.

Took it on the freeway, and for the first time I felt I could safely merge into traffic without asking, pleazzzzzzze?

Climbed a hill on the freeway and the truck happily accelerated, top boost was now 23-24lbs, and EGT went up to 1200... whoa.

When I was installing the boost gauge I noticed the plug I removed to gain access to intake had a 1/16" of soot on the tip, maybe more.

I'll bet the CAT is clogged up. Wonder how this truck will breath minus a CAT?

In the meantime all this hotrodding around is burning up my BioDiesel. I need to come up with a plan for cheaper diesel eats. 55 gallons of veggie oil sitting in the garage.

Hmmmmm. I think I hear a Appleseed Biodiesel processor calling to me.

Why, didn't Dodge use a barrel adjuster on the cables to tighten to proper length?

So simple.

One more update. Pulled off the metal brush tube thingy and replaced with a bicycle brake handle barrel cable adjuster. Zipped tied it so the small end of the adjuster could not get lose from the cable.

There are adjustments that can be made at the injection pump linkage to fix it for full travel. It may have been loused up when the recall was done

gday guldam i recently installed a #6 plate with a set of 370 injectors i also installed a 3k spring kit and i would love to see a honda or a dokata go by me haha. i havent towed anything yet other than 1 truck pull which i seen boost at 38psi and egts under 1100F, on highway i can get near the same boost and egts around 900F. Not sure if ur runnin stock turbo or exhaust but i have a stock turbo from a '02 6 speed and a 3'' to 4'' downpipe, sounds like u need to get rid of the exhaust quicker also check end play on turbo or excessive oil in the intake piping turbo could be worn out?

Once I figured out I had a bad or badly installed throttle cable, my life suddenly changed. The truck wants to go. The transformation is nothing short of amazing!

3k spring kit is on my list.

Stock exhaust with CAT, Stock Turbo.

"excessive oil in the intake piping" ?? What does that mean?

This truck should have come from the factory with a #6 plate, and a transmission that could handle it.

Will hook up my boat this weekend and see what happens.

Good to hear you found the problem. Sounds like all you need is a 3 piece exhaust manifold, a turbo back exhaust, and an air box. The stock box is the problem not the filter. Unfortunantly the K&N air filter does no good in a stock box. After thoughs upgrades, your turbo should spool up faster and your egts should go down. Good luck
