cliff I put in my mcleod and the grind is there but not as severe as yours Brandon said the same thing maybe something is a miss internal I can't hear it unless I listen for it also Le has an oil that I will be putting in it is very expensive but is well worht it we ran it in a gear box on a forage harvester about 600+ hp (CAT power) and before this particular gear box would go 1 yr we put in the LE opened it up three years later looked new its a prooven oil under the most severe conditions

Well at this point i still have not formulated any feasible alternative for the GLS fluid, no brand has exactly what i desire, possibly a 50cd of any brand may be a good alternative for those warranty voiding machines

Somtimes it is Cliff. Hey I forgot to ask you yesterday what are you doing next weekend we are going to Pismo to have some fun are you up to it?

BPine,

If only you did say something earlier #ad
. Just talked to a RC racing buddy this morning and we’re going racing in Antioch next Saturday. They've been getting big turnouts there and I can’t pass up the opportunity to show those out-of-towners how to race #ad

. Maybe next time. Who all's going?

OK guys,

Just installed the Redline MT90 today and took it for a quick test drive. The first shift from 3rd to 4th gave me a little grind but after that it shifted just fine. I think maybe I didn't have the clutch pushed in all the way. The transmission temp was at 53 deg after about 10 minutes of driving and shifting I got the transmission temp up to 75 deg and pulled over to check the neutral grind. STILL THERE #ad
. Just not quite as loud. This was a quick test drive. I think I'll put some more miles on it before I decide what to try next.

Cliffman, in my case I conciously push the clutch in farther, especially from a stop. Shortly after installing the dd clutch my slave cylinder went bad. I theorize it was from the piston in the cylinder traveling farther, possibly over some wear marks. You won't have that problem cause your truck is newer. It does seem to recquire pushing the pedal to the floor to improve the engagement characteristics. You may need a platform shoe on that left foot! #ad

After about 2 weeks of testing the MT90 I'm giving is a big thumbs down #ad
, the Redline MT90 helped a little but not enough, and I get a slight grind when cold shifting from 3rd to 4th.

My next attempt to quiet to beast is to drill a "fill hole" in the upper left corner of the PTO cover on the driver’s side. This will add about 2 1/2 quarts of oil to the transmission. The oil I'll be using is the Redline lightweight "shock proof" oil. Adding 2 ½ quarts and changing to the shockproof oil should quite the grind about 50%

Love the smell of diesel in the morning. Hope your watchen DC cuz every thing you see here is a big lie, Hehe.

Though I'd bring this thread back up and let you guys know the latest.

After drilling the higher fill hole and adding the Redline "shock proof" oil the neutral grind quieted about 30% (the best so far) but cold weather shifting is difficult in all gears except 5th and 6th. Once the transmission warms up to about 75 deg it shifts great. So, if you live in Death Valley this might work for you but not here in good ol San Jose, Ca. where it’s been getting down to about 30 in the morning #ad

Next attempt: I'm going to remove the Red line "shock proof" oil and replace it with the OEM oil. I'm curious to know if the added 2 1/2 quarts will have the same affect as the Red Line in quieting the beast.

MGM, I’m still working on how many tubes of grease I’ll need to fill that massive 6 speed transmission #ad

cliff keep a close eye on your seals with the extra oil you will be hydraulicing the seals which will push them out and off eventually

WIZ1, Thanks for the "heads up". That was the first thing I thought of also. Is there any seal in particular that I should give extra attention to?

Cliffman,
You are killin me!
I suggest grease in a keg container, then you can shovel it in!LOL
