Funny you should ask. Just this morning, I adjust the bearing preload on my steering box for the 2nd time in 115,000 miles. Both times I was starting to get a little "wander". This is an easy adjustment, it only takes about 10 minutes. Park the steering wheel at about the 11 0'clock polition, and take the bolt out of the lower end of the steering shaft, pull the shaft off the spline at the steering box and swing out of the way. Take a screwdriver & hammer, and unscrew the big lock ring on the steering box that's around the shaft. Then take a spanner or small punch, and rotate the "plug" clockwise until it's snug, then back off a 1/4" or so, put lock ring & shaft back on & you're done. It makes the truck steer like new again, with out replacing the box. I think mine was set up loose from the start, and it never steered right until I adjusted the play out of it the first time. The steering shaft will only fit on the spline shaft coming out of th box one way so don't worry about getting in on wrong.

I want to just see a count, no need for long replys, just model # & year!

Maybe if we show just how many, then DC will take notice. Remember how long it took Ford / Firestone to put figures together. My father in-law is starting Lemon Law paperwork on his 99 2500 4x4.

Nollie,

As of today my truck is headed to the dealer for the 9th, thats right 9th time for this problem. They seemed to fix it a couple of months back but now the problem is back! I have had it! Every time I contact DC about replacement, I only get a call back from the Service Manager at the dealer.

97 2500 I accepted the wander until my wife said she wouldn't drive the truck anymore. I'll try the adjustment and if that doesn't work I'll get the P52113500AF gear.

I have a 2001. 5, 2WD with the Delphi box as original install. It seems to wander also. I'm constantly correcting. Other 2WD's out there with the same problem with Delphi box?
