Archived 97 auto to g56 conversion gone awry

Yes, I printed out this entire thread and gave it to him.



He was very impressed with not only the quantity of info, but the quality.



The truck is now running, and I will pick it up tomorrow and put some miles on it.

Truck is starting and running fine now. The adapter that was in the truck has this number stamped in it, 3965233. The one that works has 3999928. The adapters appear to be the same, except the one that was causing the problem has a 1/2" taller starter flange. You can clearly see the difference in the picture below. The sad part is that the adapter that was on my truck, between the engine and aauto transmission would have worked fine.



Anyone know what the adapter that I had came out of?

pretty sure Joe D explained it above. That is an 03 up HO adapter. The earlier trucks all used the same plate but the HO trucks had a 1/2 inch starter spacer. Starting in 03 they made the plate different and used no spacer
