Does anyone know where to get a 3 gauge a-pillar mount?

The kind that completely replaces the existing a-pillar, not just covering it up.

I've tried 3 different ones from Genos, TST, etc and they all just cover up the existing a-pillar but not completely and look like crap.

I think mine is made by AutoMeter. Its the type that is supposed to cover up the stock one but Im using it as a full replacement. I installed 2 threaded inserts in the piller and just screwed it on.

There all meant to be a cover, like mentioned. You have to make it a replacement, real easy to do with one screw at the top and a hide a screw cap so you cant see the screw, for a cleaner look. I don't think to this day you will find an actual replacement. And a majority are autometer. Good luck if you do let us know. Later.

You can attach the autometer cover "over" the factory a-pillar cover. I took a dremel to the factory cover to make holes for all three gauges and the tweeter and then use the rivets at the four corners and a little glue to hold the two together, then you still have the factory "clips" that hold the a-pillar on and no visible screws at all. Thanks to SmokinRam for teaching me this one. Its a really clean install.

When you look at it from outside thru the glass, it is still a clean appearance? What did you use to dye the black plastic, or use for paint. Paint scratches easily. I was hoping to find some dye for mine.

John,

the outside-in appearance is factory looking. The cover is painted with agate spray paint. I have not had any problems with scratching yet, but if you abuse it, I'm sure it will scratch. The only rivet that you can see is the top rivet on the windshield side. You have to look hard to see it, but painted the interior color, it really blends in. I only have three rivets on mine. I removed the rivet at the top (door side) because it made my rubber trim bubble out just a little bit. I replaced it with some plastic glue. I had a double gauge pillar before and used it as a replacement with a single screw holding in on. This is so much cleaner.

You can use the screw method without seeing the screw then you dont have to worry about how it looks from outside. You also dont have to go through the extra work of cutting up the stock piece in case you need it later. Just use it as a replacement and not a cover.

I did the same thing oilburner did, except I used 3m two sided sticky tape to adhear the new"cover" to the factory A pillar. As far as the paint goes, I just had the local body shop shoot it.

Pkemp, if yours is a 95, the cover doesn't completely go over the entire pillar. I've done several of these, and with matching paint, it does look factory. The 98 and up pillar covers are even easier to make look factory. Like Oil Burner mentioned, you can hide almost all of the rivets, and it does look clean.

The key is to use as few rivets as possible.

I am about to install mine... but I got a vinyl dye from a auto paint supply store... Mine was the Medium Quartz P1D5 on the color code, they pulled a '96 Dodge paint chip page out of their book, they mixed it up on the spot and shoved it into an aerosol can.

The dye should stick to the plastic better... only time will tell.
