Guys, I had to replace my vp44 on my 2k dodge dually thats stock with a 410 gear rear end and automatic, I got a good deal on a Brand NEW vp44 for $1100 dollars delivered to my door (NO CORE Charge EITHER) and I put it on due to my old vp acting up, so anyway this pump is so smooth but it will not rev past 3k even sitting still? I probably got a fed ex pump? anyway my old vp 44 would turn to 3500 rpm and pull like a SOB! this one is slow on hills and seems like I lost 50-70 HP :( so I found a new Edge EZ box that I can buy for $400 , will this make my truck run strong again? even if I have a fed ex pump? anyone know the fed ex pumps parts #s so I can see?

It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out. I'd be a bit ticked off if the original "acting up" pump performed better than the "new $1,100. 00". Can't wait to her someone's reply that has knowledge base on the part number.

Hey JLittle - for giggles post the original pump number if you still have or can get it - assuming you had to turn it in as a core.

I sold the other original pump to a rebuilder for $400 , I might still have the #s off of it too? I know it was the original pump off my truck with 170k miles, yeah this one is smooth and runs good but no where near as strong! I miss the old set back in the seat acceleration that the old one did! but I dont miss sitting on side of road waiting for the vp to cool off so i could continue traveling like it started doing! I also had a bad code saying computer and ecm didnt agree too!

If you are looking for a performance upgrade to fuel above 3000 rpms the EZ is the wrong way to go. It stops fueling well before you hit the ECM defuel at 2700 rpms. Go with a smarty. Will keep fueling to 3500 or a little more. Not really sure a performance upgrade would help your situation though.

From what I understand the software in the Fedex pump computer is totally different than the DC software, so I wonder if any programmer or fueling box would work at all.

Call the guys at Blue Chip Diesel, they use the Fedex computer on thier VP44, but they load the DC software on it.
