Hi guys, the ABS light came on last night. The brakes seem to be working alright at this point. It is my understanding that if the ABS light is on,the ABS will not work but the brakes are still ok?

I replaced the ABS fuze under the hood, also the one in the fuze panel on left side of the dash, NO HELP.

The truck is a 99-2wd. with almost 90000mi. (cannot get my truck profile to come up)

Anybody got a idea what is going on with the brakes?

ABS and Brake Light On

I had the exact same problem. First, an ABS malfunction simply means that your brakes are working in normal, manual mode without the augmented help of ABS. They work fine, you'll slide the wheels in a panic stop.

You have a defective speed sensor in the rear axle. It is mounted on top of the input shaft housing on the rear end. Replace this, and you'll notice that your speedo will start to work better (it probaby des not register at all under ~ 10 MPH right now) and both of your lights will go out.
