my AC isnt blowing cold air, and bought a do it yourself kit to fix it.

problem 1 is that i cant find the AC service cap and 2 when looking for more information on the recharge it says that 95 and previous trucks run different refridgerent and need to be retrofitted to accept the new type.

information on how to go about getting cold air back would be greatly appreciated. there are no problems with the system other than not cooling the air very much.

Without knowing the year model of your truck I can't help you with the type you have. There should be a decal in the engine compartment that addresses the type. If it is R-12 you will have to fix the leak and retrofit the system to R-134 and then have it charged up.

What year is your truck???

94 and up all use R134. Follow the lines on any ac system and you will find the ports. Some are directly on the accumulater

its a 95 sorry. is it an adapter for the service port or something else. hsmith no offense taken. brain not work so good when this its hot I guess.

If your system has the 5/16" male flare type fittings for service valves it is still F-12. The conversion consists of removing the remaining refrigerant, removing all the oil and replacing with R-134 and compatible oil. The fittings to convert the service valves are available at most auto parts stores. bg

Being a '95 it is R134A. The low side connection should be close to the radiator and the high close to the compressor. No adaptors required. Just need 134a equipment.
