Added another truck to my fleet

Thanks, TDR Staff

“This little light of mine, I’m gonna’ let it shine!”

Did You Know Ram had a Diesel Engine 11 Years Prior to Cummins (89)?

That would be great. Thanks. I will be interested to see if they write the trip to the dealer today as a separate work order or if they are going to treat it as a continuation of the last service appointment. It is a different problem (the door not opening instead of not closing).

Here's the latest one.

If I'm reading the work orders correctly, 2 this week and 2 last week for a total of 4. They are the identical part #'s to the ones last time around.

This is starting to make my head spin.

I severely doubt all 4 doors have the same seal. I really doubt these seals need to be disturbed to get door panels off.

Truck is finally clean enough for me to get a picture of Ford's "fix"

Looks like they just greased the heck out of those latches and added that white seal on the outside. I don't have a picture of the last seal, but I believe it was black.

Back in the 90s the infamous Ford “door ajar” light issue was sticky switches. A Ford SSM “fix” was to clean the latches, replace the switches, and lube with that same grease.

It actually sort of worked for awhile.

Last September I bought my wife a new 2018 Expedition with the 3.5 ecoboost and 10 speed auto. It has nearly 14,000 miles on now and has been excellent. It’s the XLT package but loaded with extras. Her previous vehicle was a 2008 hybrid tahoe with 235k miles.
At the risk of being severely flamed by Wayne, I’m so impressed by it that I now want a F150 for myself.
I did a lot of reading on the gen 2 ecoboost prior to purchase and I bought the extended warranty (6yr/125k miles). I’ve also been doing services at 1/2 the recommended intervals.

Nope. Not flaming! Hey I just had to swallow some mopar pride when I took grandma car shopping. We looked at a Kia Soul. I WOULD NOT buy a Ford car or car based SUV, but I gotta say their large vehicles are ok nowadays. Still the tech of the eco boost goes against something I would own.

You are not going to be disappointed on the F150 platform. My only suggestion would be to look for a 157" wheelbase crew cab like I have instead of the standard 145". Not many of them around, but I just love that 6.5' bed with the crew cab instead of the 5.5'.
