ATS said they cut open one of DTT's earlier TC's and measured the lining. They also said it is possible that the later TCs have more lining or that they could have measured it wrong. Fact is they did measure an actual TC. As far as showing a detailed picture of something that many tried but gave up doing because it "won't work" would be foolish.

DISCLAIMER: I AM STILL UNDECIDED WHICH COMPANY'S TC WILL REPLACE MY DUNRITE.

Bill,

For months I debated whose products to go with when I rebuilt my trans. I tried and tried to talk myself into spending the extra money for yours. The bottom line is that I didn't want to deal with someone with your attitudes. I believe that this last thread has soured even more people to you and your company. If ATS mismeasured the surface area of your lining by 1,2 or whatever square inches just tell us what the number is.

In my opinion, you look like you're running scared and that's a shame

Bill's post was deleted for violating the guidelines, he's been warned many times in the past and has had the guidelines explained to him many times as well. His posting privileges have now been temporarily suspended for 30 days which he was warned would happen about a month ago if he violated the guidelines again, unforetunately he decided to do so. I removed his post because he wouldn't be able to defend himself on the replies to it.

I could buy off on the difference if it was a couple of inches, due to inaccuricies with the measuring equipment or different people's interpretation, but almost 20% (34 vs. 41. 5) is hard to swallow.

Change the number or bring the cash, it's as simple as that. I'm sure Bill will remember to bring an extra TC to replace the one he cuts open - he'd probably do it under warranty, too.

Customer at MM - "Yeah, I was just parked over there, and the next thing I know, this crowd shows up and my transmission is over there, and hacksaw blades are flying, and my Torque Converter just opened up!"

Bill - "We don't get many of 'em, but it sounds like a warranty item. Hey, lookie what I just happen to bring along... "

Sounds like we need a vendor forum where they can duke it out with minimal interferance.

I like to hear the arguements they tend to reveal a lot of info. Besides, I could never stop watching a good fight.

There is excellent entertainment value in it!

Start a forum where they can post prices and disuss all kinds of stuf that's not kosher over here. If they make an A$$ of themselves then so be it. Say what you want and live with the consequenses.

He spoke the truth. I quoted them when asking a question and they never responded.

Doesn't DTT stll use the O. E. M. cover? if so how do they get more clutch surface area?

My 2 cents worth...

I think we should all just chill now... . Bill challenged the Ads info and ATS said they would change it with correct info!... . Done.

The ******* contest should have ended there or let the lawyers fix it.

Here is one thing I though I would NEVER say. I think D. Showman made a good point and I'm starting to agree with him.

(More so if you read the deleted post)

I'm just one man and this is just my opinion,

What's there to explain? Bill was warned and he did it again. He needs to face the consequence of his actions. There is no difference between this and your child being told that if they do something again they will be grounded, spanked whatever.

This whole thread is ridiculous. If ATS published the wrong number call them on it - use their direct number - it's a minor issue. But to take this course of action sounds like something from junior high. I keep waiting to read where the fight will be after school.

Are any of the company names used on the ATS website trademarked/copyrighted or protected in any other way? Not sure if ATS can legally use a company's name w/o permission.

I have enjoyed the technical discussions between vendors as I don't know much about automatics - I drive a stick.

These type of vendor urinating contests disappoint me. Unfortunately, the common denominator in these threads has been Bill K and like D. Showman I will not deal with somebody with attitude even if they have the perfect solution.

Ok, lets cool our jets. I just checked ATS website and they have corrected the various clutch lining areas for the record. My hat is off to ATS for responding quickly without a lot of discussions or other stuff!!!

A vendor free for all forum has been discussed in the past. The owners of the site have said that it isn't going to happen. In talks with many vendors the vast majority said they wouldn't be interested in participating in a forum like that. Most business people (myself included) refuse to talk down their competitors and instead choose to promote their products and let their products and service speak for them. A forum like that would basically force those vendors to participate in that kind of bashing, etc just to defend themselves.

Since Bill can't defend himself here for now and the information that started this debate has been corrected on ATS's website (as they said they would do) lets move on.

A Request for the real Beautiful Mind

Man on Man! What an p****** contest.

I hope I'm the last thread on this.

My opinion is the ATS web had honest mistakes made. The advertizing point wasn't an inch here or there, but the substantial difference. They have corrected it.

Bill, I'm sorry you lost your priviledges for 30 days because I had hope to experince your knowledge. But it appears the rules have been explained.

Steve St. Laruent (sp?)

Thanks for your voice, it's a fine line to tread and you are not just out in front but leading us by setting a good example I hope others will try to follow.

debate is the healthiest of all forums, but lets do it with professionalism.
