AFC boost tube? 911!!!

Today when I was looking over my inj. pump to see where all the adjustments are prior to trying to turn up the pump, I found that the tube from the manifold to the AFC was broken right where the tube connects to the banjo fitting. Does anyone know if this is available from either the dealer, Cummins, or anywhere aftermarket. This is my work truck so I need to resolve this asap.

It's not that bad. You can still drive the truck as you normally would. You don't even need that thing. There are a couple of options. I have some of these that have been removed from other trucks. Like I said, you don't need it/want it if you have modified your truck.



DPuckett will be happy to list the items required to convert the steel line to a plastic line. Beware that the fitting that threads into the top of the pump will not match but wil tend to cut it's own threads when installed.



You can render the AFC inop by turning the smoke screw down or installing a longer bolt in place of the short smoke screw. This will manually push the cone down to the bottom of it's bore. All that air line is doing is providing air presssure to push the cone down when you have a varying amount boost.

There is a thread in the discontinued products sub-forum that adresses this in detail, with pics of the completed install. The threads going into the AFC housing are REAL close to the 1/8 OD airline hose size. I dont even run Teflon tape on it anymore.

The same thing happend on mine the tube broke



I took a peice of vaccume line and stuck it togeter until i got one on e-bay for a couple of bucks ,



But when that happend i noticed some thing else ,



So you might check yours out ,



My pump loosend up some how in fact the truck was running rather weird i fixed the problem replaced a bolt with no problems



why it backed off , no idea

Scott took mine off, the way he described it above, a couple of years ago and I haven't missed it. You just have to plug both sides.

AFC boost tube

I want to thank everyone for their input. I managed to manufacture one using the fittings from the old tube. I bought a short piece of 3/16th brake line tubing, contoured it to fit, cut the end and removed the brake fittings and installed the manifold fitting. Then I drilled out the old broken tube from the banjo fitting and sized it to where the new tube would slip inside. Installed it on pump and used JB weld to secure banjo to the tube. Let it set overnight and it sealed just fine.
