Installed air horns on the truck today. :D

Went to a local boneyard and bought an air tank and horns. Horns came off of an old Volvo semi tractor. Using an electric air valve, and using the stock horn buttons to turn them on.

Right now, just using a fitting and valve on the tank for filling the tank from the shop air compressor. Will eventually get an electric comprssor to fill the tank.

Need to replace the drain valve on the tank, it is leaking a little bit. Other than that, no leaks. :)

Put the horns under the Lonestar front bumper.

i sure wish there was an OTR wreckin yard close by (nearest one is about 3 hrs away. ) you'll have to post some pics when ya get some time.....

How much did they set you back ??

TD- Need anything in particular? I'll be heading to San Antonio in early Feb. Could drop it/them off to you.

I was originally planning on train horns, but decided to put the extra money elsewhere. Still dang loud. Oo.

Katmandu- $35 for the tank and $35 for the black dual trumpet horns (Look like Hadley horns, I think) and lanyard operated valve (which I didn't use). Got all of the other needed parts and fittings from Mutual Wheel. JC Whitney has a cheaper solenoid operated valve (figured that out after the fact  ).

The tank still had brackets on it, and was able to reuse them.

How big is the tank ??

Got pics yet ??

No pics yet. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance. Just guessing, but the tank looks to be about 3-4 gallon in size. It came off of some '87 Ford truck. They have lots of tanks around to sort through outside.

I have it mounted to my homemade flatbed mounting rails. I have 2x4 channel running across the frame rails, that the bed is bolted down to. The channel sits like this- n, with 4" angle welded on the ends of the channels where they sit on the frame rails on the rear, and the front box supports. Have a pic of the tank mounted on the truck, in RR.

Get this valve. The valve I have is actually for ooperating an air cylinder.
